Unable to log in to mac app

Whenever I load the mac app it takes a long time to display the login page and when it does the page is not loaded correctly (seems like no css). If I click the link for the log in with google account nothing happens, I have also tried entering my google user id and password then clicking the login link but still no response.

I have tried the following steps based on research at this support site:

1. Use the todo menubar icon to logout, it just reloads back to the same page.
2. Reset safari and clear all data.
3. Deleted the app and reinstalled from the website.

I can log into the web version and the windows app fine, just the mac app is giving me troubles

Hi Brett,

What version of OSX are you running? Are you behind a type of proxy or security software?

Did you change or add anything to your system recently when this started?

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm running on 10.7.5, no proxy or security software running.

It's a new install, never been able to get it working.

Hello Brett,

Please make sure that Safari accepts third-party cookies.

Also, try to log in manually. To do so, you can't use your GMail password because we never store or have access to it. That said, please first log into Todoist on the web at https://todoist.com click on the gear icon in the top-right corner, go to Settings -> Account and use "Edit" next to "password". This will allow you to set a password for your Todoist account and from now on you can log in manually using your GMail address in combination with the newly set password.

Best regards,

Ok I have managed to log in, however there still seems to be a rendering issue, seems like it isn't able to load the CSS.

I've just realised I've been using Chrome to access the website, I did a test with Safari and it has the same issue as the app, so I'm guessing the app is just skinning safari.

It looks like this is a problem with Safari itself, doesn't seem to load any pages very well, they either don't come up or come up slowly and don't render properly. However Chrome is fine. I know this isn't your problem but if you have any pointers that would be handy, otherwise it's off to professor google for me.

Hello Brett,

In most such cases, clearing all the browser's cache and making sure you don't have any ad- or script-blocking plugins should solve this, but if you see this on multiple sites and there's been an update to Safari, then it may indeed be beyond anyone, but Apple's control.

I have the same problem-can't login with the app on the Mac. I am using the password that works fine to login online.

I am *no*t trying to sign in using my Google account.

I've checked everything you mention above and it is still not working on Chrome or Safari.

Seems several people have had this problem and also with the iphone app which I haven't tried yet.

I want to upgrade to the premium, but if this is an ongoing issue, I won't bother.

Please advise.

Hello Juliet,

We're sorry for the inconvenience, this is certainly not an ongoing issue.

Please try to go to the web, click on "Login" and then use the "Forgot password" option on the login screen. Use the link you'll get via email, set a password and then try to log into the Mac app using the newly set password and let us know if the issue persists.

Best regards,
