New Date Box
I have checked your blog and Twitter, but I saw no reference to the new format that I began seeing yesterday (maybe today). The date box has been moved, is larger, and they are shortcuts just underneath it to set a priority or add a label. What is the thought process behind this? I dislike the reduced space it leaves for entering my task - the date box is much larger than necessary and eats up prime space. If there is more to this and I'm missing it, please either let me know what that is or where to read about it. Many thanks!
The change is purely cosmetic and the slightly smaller task input field should not be an issue because, as you've surely noticed, if you type a lot of text into it, it will expand. Once you save the task, there won't be any visual difference to your list as the tasks will be displayed as they were before.
Yes, its height grows as you type, but not the length, of course - as you've surely noticed. Just not sure why you need a date box that is 1/3 of the entire dedicated task space, that's all. It looks absurd due to all of the wasted space below the actual date and does not seem efficient. If it must be expanded 'd rather see it used for something like additional quick links or something functional. That's all. Thanks, though, for the quick response.
If it expands vertically, it doesn't need do expand horizontally. Nonetheless, we appreciate your feedback and you're welcome to add a request to our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/ to change this back to as it was before.
I wasn't speaking of literal need - I clearly understand your point and how expanding space works. It's a preference. To me, it simply appears more cluttered as you type and the lines stack with the decreased width. I don't know what's been accomplished with the change, but no voting necessary. Thanks ...
