Automatically refreshes after second new task - Mac App

JW

On the Mac App, after a new task is created, it shows that newly created task in its projected, but then if the keyboard shortcut for a new task is pressed again, the whole app reloads for about 3 seconds before allowing me to enter a new task.

Hi Jake,

Does this happen only when using the keyboard shortcut, or does it happen no matter how the task is created? Does clearing the cache for Safari help this issue?

Thanks,
Brendon.

This happens only when using the keyboard shortcut, but even when I switched the shortcut from Command-Shift-J to Command-Shift-B, I still had a problem.

Hello Jake,

Please clarify - this only happens with the global keyboard shortcut, but not the "Ctrl+Q" shortcut for Quick Add?

Best regards,
David

I was talking about the global keyboard shortcut, but when I tried the "Ctr+Q" shortcut it works without refreshing, but I have to press it twice to add a task. So an improvement over the global shortcut, but neither is fully functional, and I can't customize that shortcut.

Jake,

I will pass this issue to the developers and let you know if we manage to reproduce and fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

Jake,

Unfortunately, our devs can't reproduce this either. Please try to set the shortcut to something simpler like Ctrl+X just to check if it helps.

David

I changed the shortcut to Cmd-X and Ctrl-X and both continue to have the problem. It doesn't matter if I actually create the task: simply pressing the shortcut, then closing the Quick Add pane, and then pressing the shortcut causes a reload. Even if I reopen and close the Quick Add pane, or add new tasks using the mouse, the second time I press the shortcut, it reloads. I have the latest version of the app, on a Macbook Pro with OSX Mountain Lion, US Keyboard setting.

Jake,

Thank you for clarifying, that's actually normal behavior for the app. If it's closed, the global shortcut opes it and the Quick Add box. It if's already opened, it (re)loads it again and then opens Quick Add again.

If you have the app open, using Ctrl+Q is the best option as it won't try to open/load the app again.

David

I really like the ability to customize the shortcut, but having it reload is an issue, so I think that either the Ctrl+Q non-reloading shortcut should be customizable, or the reloading after the customizable shortcut should be optional. Maybe you could pass that along to the guys in charge, if that isn't yourself.
Thanks for your help and for clarifying the situation.

Jake,

I'll pass it to the developers and we'll look into it.
