Recurring Dates Every Last Weekday and Every First Weekday

Many of my projects include recurring tasks for month end or first of month, and I'd like to be able to set these items for "Every Last Weekday" or "Every First Weekday". These phrases are not accepted in the date box. Every First Day and Every Last Day work, but this causes some important things to slip onto Saturdays or Sundays. Is there a workaround for this (aside from manually scheduling each month's task individually)?

Hello Adrienne,

To set a task to the last weekday (workday) of the month, please use the following date formula:

every last wday

or "ev last workday". Unfortunately, there is no syntax for every first workday of a month right now, but we will consider adding it in the future and you're welcome to add your request to our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/22/

Best regards,

Hi David,

Thanks for the last workday syntax. I hadn't tried that. That solves most of my problem. I can choose first tuesday or first thursday or something for the first of month stuff for now, and I will go add the suggestion to the votebox.

Thanks again,

Anyway you can add major holidays to the mix? How do you recommend scheduling things around the 4th not being a workday without changing the reoccurrences?

Hello Jordan,

If the 4th day of a month is a holiday , but falls on a day that would usually be a workday, then unfortunately it's not possible to skip it automatically. We may consider implementing holiday lists for different countries in the future, but for now, the best option is to simply leave the task overdue and then check it off upon completion on the next occurrence (note - tasks overdue by no more than 3 days won't decrease Karma).

Best regards,
