How can I track recurring tasks never done?

I have a daily recurring task like "walk dog". Sometimes I get it done and sometimes I don't (bad weather). I don't want to check it off because I didn't do it but I have to to get the next day's version of that recurring task to load. If I delete it for that day it will delete the task forever. Is there away for me to shelf it as "undone" so that I can look back at the end of the month to see how many I missed?

Hello Paul,

If a recurring task is not completed, it becomes "overdue". When you click on "today" or "7 days" on Todoist, you will actually see tasks that are due "today or overdue" or "in the next 7 days or overdue". If you then complete the instance today, you can check the task off.

If you know beforehand that you will not be able to complete a task, you can simply right-click on it and choose "Postpone", this will not mark it as completed, but change the due date to tomorrow.

Please check this post on our blog for some tips how to handle overdue or uncompleted tasks: https://todoist.com/blog/2013/06/3-ways-to-drastically-improve-your-productivity/

Best regards,
