Repeat days till an end date

How would I write "Every day until [month, day]"?

I can get it to repeat tasks by saying "Every WEEKDAY ending may 5", but when I type "Every DAY ending may 5" it gives me an invalid error...

Thanks!
Gabe

Hi Gabriel,

At the moment we actually do not support ending dates. This seems to be a glitch in the system.

As a workaround you can create the task for everyday starting at a certain date and then move the task to history on the ending date, or hold Ctrl while checking it off the final time.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Surely, this a pretty basic function and I'm surprised that it hasn't been integrated yet. Any news on when this will occur as the workaround suggested doesn't seem to work on an ios system.

What is the current fix of it?

Thanks

Hi Karim,

The suggested workaround is to set it as normal recurring item and when you don't need it anymore, you can move it to history by right clicking on a tasks and selecting the option "Move to history".

Clyde

Hmm... That doesn't work so well for those of us who only use a laptop with a tracking pad and our phones...

Code-wise, this shouldn't be too tough. You can set it to start on a particular date. The argument to make it stop at a particular date is pretty similar.

I agree as well; Todoist's date recognition is so fantastic, I spent a long time trying different combinations (thinking, of course it should work) only to realize it wasn't supported.

I LOVE Todoist and plan to be a customer for many years to come, but I would love this feature of ending recurring tasks at a certain date (tomorrow until saturday; today until +3)

It would be ideal to set end date with two command.

every day until 28/12
every 2nd monday for 4 times

After all a good part of recurring dates are not infinite. Come on ;-) !

Hello Dan,

We're working on a new date parser which has to be done to add many more date formats as doing it on our current old parser would be extremely complex or near-impossible.

That said, we hope we can implement the new one soon (we're testing, adjusting and translating it) and when we do, dates such as "every day until 20 Feb" or "from today until Friday" will be supported.

David

David, thank you for the quick update! This is a key feature that I am very much looking forward to. Not having more granular control over repeat tasks is one of the very few frustrating things about Todoist. One of the reasons I use Todoist and not other apps is precisely because it doesn't have too many features. That said, this is one that I'm looking forward to.

Could we have a status update, please? I'm not intending to be harsh, but the long periods of silence after "we're working on it" postings - which, themselves, are few and far between - doesn't create a sense of confidence in your client base that they can depend on you to meet their very legitimate needs. If you want us to depend on you (and that includes giving you our money), then you have to help us believe that you're dependable.

Hello,

End dates have been implemented in our last iOS app and later rolled out to all platforms (last week) :-)

Our developers are still working on a few fixes and improvements, after that we'll document all new date formats on our help pages.

That said, you can now use dates such as "every day until 25 May", "every Friday starting 1 May until 22 May" and similar.

David
