Due date shifting

Hello!
When I set due date of any task it always shifts to the nex day. Sometimes it happens immediately after the task creation, sometimes when I login next time. Problem is both with the single and reccuring tasks.

Hello,

Please tell me:
- Are you using Todoist only on the web or also through our mobile apps?
- Does this issue occur on multiple platforms (web, mobile, add-ons, plugins etc.)?
- Do you have the correct time zone set both in Todoist and on the device you're using Todoist on?
- Did you travel between time zones recently?

Also, please try to set a task with a specific due time such as "20 Apr at 13:40" and let me know if the time will be changed along with the day and if so - how much will it change.

- I use Todoist on web and Android app (time settings are the same, Europe/Moscow)
- I think yes, both on the web and Android
- Europe/Moscow, just cheked
- No, I'm not travel

I've create task with time 15 Apr at 14:30 from the web. On the web it seems to be rigth at the moment, but on Android it shifted to the wednsday 15 Apr. And it looks like the calendar on Android is wrong.

Please clarify - does the shift happen to the real due date of the task (visible when you enter the project in which the task is added) or only on the today or "7 days" view on Android?

There is currently a bug on our Android app that causes the days to be displayed incorrectly in the date views even though the tasks themselves are scheduled correctly. We'll fix it very soon and publish a new release. For now, as a workaround, you could try to clear the app's data/cache which should at least temporarily fix this display. Sorry for the inconvenience.

David, I can confirm the Android bug. When I insert a due date on a task on smartphone or tablet running ICS and JB respectively, the date shifts from the chosen date to a date some days into the future. When synced with my desktop the correct due date appears.

Yesterday I put in two tasks via my Galaxy SII running ICS to take place on Sunday. When you re-enter Todoist the tasks were scheduled for next Friday.

Just now I entered a test task to become due on Monday and again when I rechecked it, my Nexus 7 running JB showed it as due on Friday. It has synced with the desktop to show the correct day, ie Monday.

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue. Please clarify - are you referring to the task's real due date that's visible within the project in which this task have been added or the 7 days view? We're aware of an issue that shows the incorrect day in the 7 days view and it will be fixed soon in the upcoming update of our app.

If this is not the issue you're experiencing, please describe exactly step-by-step how you can reproduce this issue. These are the steps I've made to reproduce it (to no avail):

1. Enter a project
2. Tap on the Add task icon
3. Enter a task name
4. Type in "Sunday" manually within the due date field.
5. Tap on the check mark to add it.

At this point, the tasks shows as due "Tomorrow".

In the second attempt, instead of typing "Sunday", I've picked Sunday from the calendar, which entered a "14 Apr" date to the field and after saving it, it also occurred as due "Tomorrow".

Is there anything different that you're doing? Also, do you have the correct time zone set in Todoist as on your mobile device?

Hi David

Main PC and both Galaxy SII and Nexus 7 are fully synced in correct time zone and dates/time etc.

Following your instructions I create a test take in my personal section, choose the scheduled date as next Friday using the calendar date checker, hit save and shut down Todoist. Open Todoist and the task is scheduled on the Nexus 7 for Tomorrow (Monday). On my Galaxy SII the task is scheduled for Friday, and on the desktop.

Following the same procedure I create test task 3 on the Nexus and tyype in Friday as the scheduled day, save it, shut down Todoist. Open Todoist and the task is again scheduled for tomorrow (Monday). On the Galaxy SII it is scheduled for Friday, as is the desktop task.

If I edit the task on the desktop to schedule for Thursday on the Nexus 7 the date is scheduled for Sunday (Doesn't say today or next Sunday. On The Galxy SII, which is essence s passive syncing, not creating anything, the date is changed to Thursday.

The Nexus is running Jelly Bean.

The Galxy is running ICS.

If I create test task 4 on the Galaxy following your process to schedule using the date checker I opt for the scheduled date to be Friday and it shows correctly on the Galaxy SII and desktop. On the Nexus, however, the test task 4 shows up as scheduled for Monday.

Creating test task 5 but typing in Thursday as the chosen date, the Galaxy and desktop show Thursday as being the correct Date. On the Nexus it is shown as Sunday.

If I create a task on the desktop using the Chrome extension I opt for Wednesday as the chosen date. On the desktop and Galaxy SII show correctly but on the Nexus it shows as being due on Saturday.

My guess is there is something wrong with the way Jelly Bean devices pick up the date.

Thank you very much for the detailed description. Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue on any JellyBean device under any circumstance.

Please clarify - when you say that you shut down Todoist after you add the task:
- How do you shut it down exactly (force stop?)
- Do you shut it down immediately after saving the task before the sync circle appears?

Also, are you certain that you're using the latest version of our app which is 1.0.5 on all devices. Also, if you've ever used our old beta version on your Nexus, please access Settings -> Apps -> Todoist, first clear the app's cache, data, then uninstall it and then reinstall it and let me know if the issue persists.

Re shut down I exit the application completely by hitting the equivalent of the return key, I don't minimise it and leave it running in the background. I let the sync process complete before shutting down.

I have never used a beta version. Galaxy SII version is 1.0.5 (Android 4.0.4) and the Nexus is 1.0.5 (Android 4.2.2) - interesting difference between the Android versions. I will look into that.

We've been using exactly the same Android version 4.2.2 on Nexus 7 and unfortunately, the issue didn't occur so far. After tapping on the check mark, the task set to Friday (picked from calendar) shows as "Friday" inside this project it then syncs, we hit the return button, reenter the project and it's still due "Friday" (to clarify - within the project, there is an issue that shows incorrect day headers on the 7 days view, but this will be fixed in the next update).

Please let me know if after uninstalling and reinstalling our app, the issue will still persist. Also - is the Nexus' language set to English?

Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue. Two test tasks have given the correct scheduled date. Oh well, at least ticking off all the test tasks have increased my Todoist karma :-)

A few days on and on my Nexus 7 the date shifting is back again. I will keep an eye on it. Desktop and Galaxy SII still behaving!

We're sorry to hear that. The only situation that we're aware of that can influence the due date of a task is adding or editing a task while being in a different time zone and not adjusting Todoist's timezone settings. We're also aware of the issue with the display of the day/date headers on the 7 days view which will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Other than that, we're unable to reproduce the issue you describe on any device incl. the ones you've mentioned. Please tell me - did you try to install Todoist on an SD card?

I only work 10 miles from where I live so I don't think the time zone is an issue :-)

I'll keep an eye on things and see if I have a brainwave and if I get some time I will have some serious input play and see if I can find a pattern.

This issues occurs every time on the web interface for me. Every time I select a date it shifts to the next day. Big problem.

Using Chrome Version 32.0.1664.3 dev.

Hello Alfredo,

Unfortunately, we can't guarantee any correct functionality of our app on any non-final release of a browser. If the issue also persists on a different browser (non-dev or beta version), please let us know.

So far the only way we can reproduce it is when using a different time zone on at least one device we access Todoist with or having an incorrect timezone set in Todoist.
