Generic Failure Occurred
Today today i getting the following Todoist error in Outlook.
"Generic Failure Occurred" (Appears on the Todoist Outlook pane)
I've unistalled and reinstalled Todoist for Outlook but no success.
Any suggestions to try?
Please tell me:
- Have you downloaded the latest version of our plugin from http://todoist.com/outlook or did you use a previously downloaded installer?
- What version of Outlook are you using (and is it the 32-bit or 64-bit edition)?
When I uninstalled it I downloaded the latest version from the Todist site and installed it. I'm using Outlook 2010 32Bit.
Same behaviour. MS Outlook 2010 Version 14.0.6129.5000 (32bit)

Yesterday it works fine.
I'm using it also via Android phone.

I tried to reinstall plugin, with reboots, with Firewall switched off..
Still not working. Could you at least confirm that you get the debug data needed (it's sent automatically).
Without the possibility to create tasks from e-mails the tool is quite unusable for me, that was the main reason to buy Premium version.
I was able to resolve the issue.
1. Uninstalled Outlook Todist
2. Ran MS Office Repair
3. Restarted computer
4. Reinstalled Outlook Todoist

We receive all debug info and we hope to fix this issue soon. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
In the meantime, you could try to manage emails with Todoist by forwarding them to Todoist's projects. This is a Premium-only feature which doesn't require the use of a plugin. Simply right-click on a project and get the email address of this project to which you can forward an email - the subject will become the task name and the entire body of the message - a task note.

I tried the Richard's solution but without success. So waiting for some fix or other troubleshooting instructions.
Unfortunately, there's nothing more we can do at this point, (a "Generic error" can be anything) we're going over the debug info and as soon as we identify this issue or would need any additional information, we'll let you know. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We're also working on an update to our Outlook plugin running on a slightly different structure and once it's done, we'll ask you to try it out and see if it fixes this issue.
This occasionally happens to me when I disable the Add-in and then re-enable it. But in my case re-starting outlook fixes the problem.

David - the way how to add e-mails to tasks via sending them to the project address is ok, but I'm not able to open the e-mail attached from outlook in web interface - that makes the work really hard now.
I will probably try to upgrade to Office 2013, let's see.

unfortunately this RC did not fix my issue.
I am now getting a Generic Failure *all the time*. I went through Richard's steps, and also installed the RC version linked above. I would really appreciate your attention to this, as it seems to be more than just an isolated issue, and it really lowers the value of Todoist when I can't use it in Outlook.
...also, not sure this is relevant, but I updated the following programs on my computer yesterday:
Maybe one of those is involved??
It's unlikely that either of these programs has caused it (our plugin doesn't use any of them).
Please tell me - did you try to use the "Todoist Logout" option on the add-ins tab? The RC version added this button which should forward you to the login page.
We can assure you that all out attention is put to this issue and we're currently looking for a new web-UI that we will base the plugin on as we suspect that the one we currently use (Awesomium) is causing this. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It doesn't look like the RC version has populated the Add-Ins tab with any buttons. I still get the Add to Project button on the Home tab, but i can't find anything else.
Please tell me - what version of Outlook are you using? In Outlook 2010, the button is on a new custom "Add-ins" tab.
I'm using Outlook 2013 with Exchange.
hmm...it has suddenly started working again after being down all day. no idea what is going on!
Well I upgraded to Outlook 2013 and it works now. Hope it will remain working :D
