more colors?

JB

Hi,
I have quite a lot of different projects, but I'm out of colors! Is it possible to add some more colors to indicate different projects? Eg pink vs purple (:

Hello Jana,

With Todoist Premium, you can use 22 colors for projects and 13 colors for labels. Feel free to subscribe - it's less than $2.50 per month :)

Best regards,
David

22 is still pretty limited...

I absolutely agree! I wouldn't think it'd be that difficult to allow for a user inputted color (like in Google docs, Microsoft One Drive) that allows for the user to select virtually any color in the spectrum.

In trying to keep up with the GTD method, it's important to categorize tasks & projects & being limited by 1-2 colors that coordinate for a certain project kinda stinks. If a project has many sub tasks with varying levels of priority, it'd be very helpful for the user to assign colors of their own choosing.

I picked Todoist Premium for the complex time mgt capabilities, but find that I can't really use the color coding method because of the very limited spectrum that would leave me re-using colors for multiple ongoing projects or not being able to assign priority...both of which are counter productive to the purpose of this app.

So, please consider helping users out by allowing for an unlimited choices with colors (or at the very least - a greatly expanded palette). I thing this is Todoists one major downfall at present & even has even caused me to look at other task mgt software. Thank you very much!

I agree with Leila. I just upgraded to Premium because I watched one of your videos which shows 13 color options to choose from for "Labels" and "Filters", but with my iMac desktop app, there are only 8 color options. Also, when I designated colors to the priority levels under "Filters" the colors did not update or change. They remain the default colors I think. I have the Mac desktop app installed along with the Google Chrome extension, Todoist: To-Do list and Task Manager 6.3. I also have the Todoist Gmail extension installed. Not sure if there is a conflict here?

I would really appreciate the ability to select my own colors for labels and filters as I already have a personalized system I have been using for years with Gmail labels and would love to just stick with that system as opposed to mixing the two. (How could orange not be one of the color options?)

I also agree. And I would prefer more color for "labels" too. Maybe allowing custom colors would be a solution.

Cheers.

Also, your colors are not particularly friendly to color blind people. More dramatically different color options would be helpful. Custom colors from a color wheel would be cool. Thx!

Yes! More colors, and more differentiation in shades. I have two or three reddish ones and two or three yellowish ones, but it's hard to tell them apart.

More colors, please! Lots!

Me too. Have lots of different labels and would appreciate a bigger range of colours.

This is my one and only negative that I have with Todoist. I would really appreciate it if there was a better range of colours. Having seven shades of blue doesn't really do it for me. I have only five project categories and I struggled with the colours. Two of them have almost exactly the same colour. I would really appreciate it if we could get something a bit different. A bright pink would be greatgreatgreat. It would also be really valuable to put the colours in some kind of order. Those two reddy-oranges are so similar that I'm always confused about which I've used.

Thanks for reading.

I don't have 22 colors with my premium account. How can I get the 22 colors?

Guys, come one.

After all this time and we still are limited to the colors you provide, while adding some tool that let us add custom colors would not be that hard at all.

Seriously. (Yes, I'm a premium user and 22 colors isn't enough) (-1)

Another vote for more colours - being able to see at a glance where most of my time is going is crucial.

Shapes are not something that we're planning to add any time soon.

Yep, me too! I feel that there is not really 22 colours, because the shades are so close to others that it is really hard to see what is the right red, yellow or blue. Bright colours and more options are really needed! (heart)

Hi Todoist team,

Any chance of adding more colors? I'm in the same boat as many others here.

Specifically, it would be nice to be able to customize colors so that they match my Gmail labels.. since Gmail integration is my primary use of Todoist.

+1 for adding more colors. If I'm going to switch to Todoist, it's got to work with my existing color-coding system, which is embarrassingly elaborate. :-)

I am looking to move from reminders to this app, and am considering premium, but the lack of custom colours is putting me off. I especially was put off by the colors assigned to the priorities (light blue, dark blue, red, seriously?)

Can a staff member please shed some light on whether or not custom colors is something that is going to be implemented any time soon or not? There's a lot of users asking for this feature, since february 2013. That's more than 2 years.

Hi Adam,

Unfortunately, we can't provide an ETA at the moment. This is not an immediate plan but we may consider it in the future.

In Premium subscription there are the following colours currently available (please see the screenshot).

I'm talking about these, see attachment.

No, unfortunately, we have only four colour options now. Sorry about that. We will consider adding more colour flags in the future.

I would like to add my voice to the chorus - I am a very visual person so color-coding is vital for me.

Ideally, I would love the option to choose custom-colors. If that isn't a possibility, then having more than 13 or 22 colors for labels and projects would be great.

I also agree that the range of colors that are currently available (esp. the label colors) are not diverse enough. They all have a very similar value (as seen by the grayscale version of the label colors below). This makes them very difficult to differentiate between them.
