Outlook email plugin behavior?

Hi, new user here and loving it.

However, trying to get my head around the email plugin behavior.

In Outlook, I want to link to the email so it opens when I click the task. This seems to only happen when I use "add email as task," rather than simply "add task." Can you confirm this?

Second question: The Outlook email only opens when I click it from the Outlook plugin. It will not open the Outlook mail for the browser, right? (Or, at least is doesn't in my case...)

Note: I am also using the Firefox plugin for GMail, where I see parallel behaviour, and I'm asking a similar question on that.

Hello Mark,

We're glad you like our app :)

As for your questions - in order to link to an email, you must use the "Add email as task" option, not just "Add task". This applies to all plugins that support this feature.

If you link to an Outlook task, the message will indeed only open through Outlook. If you link to a GMail message, it will open in GMail (in your browser).

If you would prefer to have full cross-platform access to the complete message rather than a link to it, you could try to forward messages to your Todoist projects which will make the message title the task name and the complete body - a task note.

We've explained the advantages of both options on our blog: http://todoist.com/blog/2013/01/zero-inbox-policy-with-todoist/

Thanks for the reply and I find the email link one of the most important features.

For dummies like me, you could use a little more clarity in the post, saying, for instance, that the plugin has to be visible for this functionality, e.g. in Outlook, if it isn't open you press the taskbar button and nothing happens.
