Maximum number of tasks in one project
I was trying to add a task to my project and got the following message 'For performance reasons you can only add 150 tasks pr. project. Please split your tasks in multiple projects.'
I do not want to split the tasks I'm adding to this project into multiple projects. 150 tasks per project is too small. Can this limitation be removed or raised to at least 300 tasks?
unfortunately, we can't lift the limit completely, but we may consider raising it in the future. You're welcome to add your vote for this request in our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/451/
Thanks for your response, David. Could the future come sooner? In the votebox you posted, you said 'this limit is temporary and will be enlarged or lifted once we make sure that the new HTML5-based version scales properly.' As far as I understand, Todoist has been migrated to HTML5 so it should be okay now. Plus I think it's a one line change :)
one of the main reasons for this limitation is the fact that handling more tasks within one project is difficult through a mobile phone and our upcoming mobile applications will use the same data structure to access your tasks and projects.
We are primarily considering changing the amount of projects, but it will be difficult to raise the task limitations. Right now, you can have a total of 12,000 tasks on your account (150 tasks in 80 projects) and we strongly advice to use sub-projects if it's not possible to split certain task lists to completely different projects.
I understand your point, but I don't see the difference in the level of difficulty in handling 150, 200 or 300 tasks per project. These are number of the same order. I would understand if it was 150 vs 15000 tasks per project.
As to splitting tasks into sub-projects, I like having all my work-related tasks in one project called 'Work' - everything in one place, I don't need to change (sub)projects in order to get to a particular task.
At least a small increase (up by 50 - 100 tasks per project) would be highly appreciated.
How about an opt-out button that individuals can use to override this? If there are only a few of us affected by this it seems that should not impact overall performance.
You can vote on the suggestion to have an option to opt-out from this limitation here: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/657/
