Todoist not working on Chrome


I'm using Chrome (21.0.1180.79 m, German Version) on both Windows 7 and Windows 7 / 64 bit.

Todoist does not show icons, it does not show the intent markers on projects, it does not show indications for notes. This leads to unbearable guesswork when using the tool.

I've called it directly over https://todoist.com, I've cleared the browser's cache. To no avail.

All works fine in Internet Explorer. Which I do not intend to use.

Browsing the support questions shows that I'm not the only one with this issue. You might want to have a look at this. Chrome is one of the dominant browsers here...

Hello Alex,

we are indeed aware of this issue and trying to fix it as soon as we can (in fact, it sometimes happens in other browsers as well). In order to help us identify and fix the source of this bug, please tell us:
- Are you using any plugins in your browser?
- Are you usually accessing Todoist directly through todoist.com or using a bookmark or have it pinned on a tab? If so - what URL does it point to?

In order to "fix" this problem in your browser (as a temporary workaround), please go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data and remove todoist.com from this list.

Hi David,

yes, my Chrome has the following plugins installed:
Clearly, Evernote Web Clipper, Mailto, Pinterest Button, Postponer Adder, Todoist

I am accessing todoist via a bookmark that points to https://todoist.com. Entering this directly does not make a difference.

Removing the cookies does help. Once. And then the icons are gone again. That's really not even a workaround.

could you please temporarily disable all your plugins, then clear the cache/cookies and let me know if this helps?

If it does, we would greatly appreciate if you could then try to reactivate each plugin and then see if the issue comes back and let us know after enabling which plugin, it recurred.

Did that, to no avail.

On the first launch with all plugins disabled and cache+cookies cleared it does work - if I restart the browser (everything still disabled) the icons etc. are gone again.

please tell me:
- Did you make any changes in the settings of your browser at any time? Such as - disabling JavaScript, disabling the default display of images, auto-clearing cache upon each reload, changing the size of the cache or offline storage?
- Are you manually logging out from Todoist before reloading the browser or are permanently logged in? Please try either options and let me know if it makes any difference.

We're sorry for this inconvenience, we weren't able to reproduce this issue so far and any of this information could be very helpful for us to identify the source of this issue and fix it permanently.

Not that I know of. And it did in fact work for quite some time, beautifully.

The missing icon thingy started around the time you had server issues (?). Some time in between I didn't see any items at all (which got me quite panicky, see https://todoist.com/Support/showQuestion/2358/). And the issue did not go away from then...

Again, permantently logged in or not does not make a difference, sorry.

You really don't need to be sorry - I'm in IT as well. I'm quite aware how hard it can be to find something like this - so just shoot; I'll do whatever I can to help you there.

thank you for your understanding, it's indeed very difficult for us to fix it ASAP if we can't reproduce it. We've already made some changes in the way the data's being cached on our side, but it seems that there are still cases where it occurs (either through missing tasks or sometimes missing icons, but this is only "visual" as none of your data is really lost).

I have passed the information you provided to the developers and if other questions arise, we'd be grateful if you could answer them as well.

Hi guys

I'm having the same issue in Chrome. It used to work fine for me too but then stopped.

Here are the plugins I have installed:

Checker Plus for Gmail
Goo.gl URL Shortener
Google Calendar
IO BookBar

Please let me know if there is anything I can help with too in terms of supplying information.

I know it's very year 2000 but perhaps have the most important links on the top right as text links too (as you have it on the left)?

Hello Gideon,

there's been an outage of a large DNS server which also hosts our domain and we've migrated it to a different host. This could be the source of this issue.

Please tell me:
- Can you access Todoist right now?
- Does clearing the cache and offline storage data (in Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data -> look for todoist.com on the list) solve this issue?
- Can you access Todoist through Chrome's incognito window (Ctrl+Shift+N)?

- I can, but with no icons (e.g. in the top right).
- It does not, no.
- I can - and then I can see the icons!

please tell me - are you accessing Todoist directly through https://todoist.com ? If you're using a bookmark, please make sure that it points exactly to this link and not any other URL containing a version number or anything else.

Try to clear the Todoist data as mentioned earlier and then see if the issue persists when accessing our service through the direct address.

If this won't help, try to disable the "Ad block" plugin (and "URL shortener") and retry.

Ah OK that was it! I had a bookmark (https://todoist.com/app?v=14#agenda/7__days,__overdue) that had a v=14 in it. When I log in straight through the home URL, the icons show up :)
