webcal will not post to hotmail calendar.
It works fine in outlook, but not internet based hotmail. I've re-entered the url several times and continue to get the msg (in hotmail) that the files don't have UID properties. Pls adv.
unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue.
Please confirm if these are the steps you're taking to add the iCal feed:
1. Log in to Hotmail/WindowsLive directly through a browser.
2. Go to the "Calendar" tab on the left side.
3. Click on the "Subscribe" link at the top
4. Make sure "Subscribe to a public calendar" is selected.
5. Paste the full iCal feed from Todoist's Preferences -> General Settings to the "Calendar URL" field.
6. Add a name to your calendar.
7. Click "subscribe to calendar".
Please also try this in a different browser. If it still won't work, please tell me - at which point exactly do you see the message? Does the subscribing process begin and then the message appears or does it appear instantly when you click the "subscribe" button?
The steps are exactly what I have done. I also tried it in IE with the same result.
I do get a "successfully subscribed" message, but when I look for the tasks in the calendar, they aren't there. Then I go to "edit" calendar and that when I see the following message:
"This calendar wasn't updated because of a problem with the publisher's file (the file's events don't have UID properties). We'll try updating it again later"
So it appears I'm definitely subscribed, just not updating. Hmmmm?
indeed, I can reproduce this issue now. I have forwarded this to the developers and inform you when it's fixed (if possible). This issue doesn't seem to persist with other web-based calendars like the Google Calendar, for example.
Thank you for reporting it and sorry for any inconvenience it might have caused you.
if you're still experiencing this issue, please try to replace webcal:// with https:// within the feed URL and see if it works.
I seem to have the same problem. I just upgraded to Todoist Premium, and when I tried to subscribe to a public calendar from Hotmail, it's still showing the same error message:
"This calendar wasn't updated because of a problem with the publisher's file (the file's events don't have UID properties). We'll try updating it again later."
The feed url starts with https://
Can you please advice.
Unfortunately, we're not sure why Hotmail doesn't accept our feed. It is provided in the correct standard and accepted by other calendar software. We're sorry for the inconvenience. You could try to contact Microsoft to make sure that Hotmail will accept URL-based calendars as according to their help section, the Hotmail Calendar is supposed to have an .ics extension (the URL should point to a file) which we don't provide directly as it's generated based on the parameters within the URL.
I've received a message from a Microsoft moderator on their Microsoft forum about the outlook.com calendar syncing issue, and he requested access to my Todoist account to be able to test it.
"Please give us permission to access your account and the fiddler trace so that we can speed up the process of troubleshooting this concern."
I would like to have a dummy account with access to calendar sharing, so that I don't give them my actual account. I could create a free account for them but they wouldn't be able to test the calendar syncing. Can you help please? If this works, you would have no more complaints with syncing to outlook and hotmail :)
Unfortunately, we can't offer you a dummy account, but you can right-click on any project and choose "Archive" which will hide it and won't include tasks from this project in the calendar feed. You could then leave some projects or create some dummy projects.
However, are you certain that the Microsoft moderator was asking you to access to your Todoist account and not your Hotmail account? They shouldn't ask you for access to your Todoist account and we would not advise you to give them such access. Please contact Microsoft's support to make sure if a moderator on their forums is allowed to ask you for such access.
Did anyone get this fixed because I am having issue since the last upgrade to ToDoist, January 28, 2014.
Unfortunately, the iCal feed has not been modified yet. Sorry for the inconvenience.
