how to clone tasks

Hi there,

I don't like recurring tasks because the next one doesn't appear really till the previous has been executed.

Besides that if you change the date or description in the current one, all the following will change with the new parameters.

So for me recurring dates are not a good option.

Instead of recurring dates I would like a way to clone tasks with all the same parameters that the original one, in that way I just going to change de date, and I'll get a identical independent tasks along the year.

How can I clone tasks ?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Pasqual,

unfortunately, it's not possible to copy tasks right now, but thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it and will consider adding such feature in future development.

I know this is an old post but I agree it would be great to add a clone option when you right click on a task.

In my workflow I have tasks that I complete but which generates another pending/delegated action (i.e. waiting for someone to get back to me with more info).
Today I need to mark complete the first task and manually create a new one for the pending item.
It would be muuuuuch more easy if I could just clone the first task with a right click...

Has this clone task feature been considered for future versions? Would be very helpful in multiple scenarios.

How about export them as template and then upload the template back every time you need to have the same set of tasks?

Will work for fixed/ defined tasks. When I have a followup task with 'x' org and 'x' can be any one of several dozen, plus I usually append a persons name 'y' at the end of each task, with labels going as per the work, templates fail me.

I agree... a clone task tool would be extremely beneficial! Thanks!

Cloning/copying tasks really should be a high on the list of new features, please.

I frequently have to do the same task just for a few days, not necessarily consecutive days, and the recurring tasks feature is not a solution since I don't know on which days I will need to do them until the day arrives. Cloning would be by far the easiest solution...

Hello Juan,

Task templates are already available :-) Please check out this video to see how they work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Rl_CLGY_3o

<sarcasm>Guys, it's only been 3 years, what's the rush?!?!</sarcasm>

The task templates are a a kludgey workaround at best. I'd love to know why you guys are so resistant to a simple task clone/copy feature? Virtually every app on the planet lets you create a copy of an existing item as a starting point for another item. Sorry I think I made this rant already on another thread about copying, but this seems like such an obvious and straightforward feature.
