How do I make the "Task Text" box bigger when editing an existing task on my iPad?
When I'm on my PC, it's easy to call up a task and edit it because you can see the complete task in edit mode even if it's somewhat long. However, when I'm working on my iPad, if I need to edit a task and the edits aren't at the beginning of the task, I don't see any way to scroll over to where I need to make the edit...all that shows up is one line of the task, not the whole thing. In case that's not clear, here's an example:
The whole task may say, "I need to meet Pam at 3:00 but first stop by the bank, go to the library, and drop off clothes at drycleaners."
On my iPad, the only thing that shows up in the "Task Text" box when I click on the entry in order to edit it is the first line:
"I need to meet Pam at 3:00 but first"...so if I had wanted to add in another errand after the library, I'm out of luck or I just have to retype everything that came after "first" to add the new errand in.
Any way around this?
In general, as in every other input box, you can long press on the text until you see the magnifying glass and then drag it to the right and the text will follow.
However, I can't reproduce this issue. I've added a task with the same text you've posted and when I've tried to edit this task, the box had 3 rows so I could see it all at once.
Please tell me:
- Which version of iOS are you using?
- Which version of our app are you using?
Also, try to delete and reinstall the app and let me know if the issue persists.
I am using version iOS 6.1.4 and my software is up to date.
I am using version 3.1 of the todoist app and according to the Updates section of the app store all my apps are up to date (including todoist).
I will try to delete and reinstall the app if you still think that may help despite the app already being up to date.
One other question...my antivirus software keeps giving me an alert that there's a problem with todoist's certificate...name doesn't match - is showing wedoist, not todoist. Is there going to be a "fix" to the certificate? Just don't want to keep getting these alerts if this isn't really a problem.
The latest version of the official Todoist app is 6.0.3. Please delete the app you currently have and download the latest one from https://todoist.com/ipad
As for the certificate issue - Wedoist is our other app ( https://wedoist.com - team-oriented project management app ) so this is our certificate, however it should not be linked to the Todoist site. Please tell me - which browser are you using? Does this happen in a different browser as well?
When I started to delete todoist on my iPad, I got the warning "Deleting "Todoist" will also delete all of its data." So I stopped. Is that true? Or if I delete the app will my data still be there on todoist? Also, can I get the version 6.0.3 through the App store?
Re the browser, I was using Internet Explorer when I got the messages. Haven't tried another browser since I got the warning.
As long as you have an internet connection then all your tasks and projects should be synced with our servers. When it states that message it is referring to app data on the phone which is used by the app itself to run.
You can check to see if they are by heading to Todoist.com in a browser.
Thanks, my original issue was resolved by deleting the old todoist app and installing the latest one. Thanks. With most of my apps, I get notifications for updates and that takes care of all fixes. Will todoist be doing this going forward? Or will I need to keep periodically checking to make sure I have the latest version of todoists's app?
Re the certificate issue, I did not see an issue on Chrome. Still worried about Internet Explorer though. Can you help me understand where the problem with the certificate lies? Meaning, does IE need to do something? Or does todoist need to do something for their customers using the IE browser? Or do I need to do something?
Thanks for the help!
Yes, updates will be done through the App Store. Your version was quite old and I believe it was before our huge re-write which could have caused the update not to happen.
We are working on a certificate issue which is normally related to the Outlook Plugin. It is indeed in our end, and you do not need to do anything. We hope to have updates made for it soon. The issue is though you say this is with just IE and not our plugin, which is odd. I would suggest trying to clear the cache for IE.
Yes my version was pretty old...I have been using todoist for quite awhile...I like it and hope you guys continue the good work and make it even easier to use (like making it easier to choose recurring dates like the Google calendar does).
I'll try clearing the cache for IE.
Thanks Brendon and David for your help today!
