When I turn an email into a task, why doesn't clicking on the link go to the specific email?

Hi - I expected when I turned an email into a task that when I click on the link in Todoist it would open that specific email. Instead it just goes to my inbox. Not very good if I've archived or moved the email! Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Chris,

How are you opening these email links? On your iPhone, then unfortunately this does not work. We do hope to improve this in the future.

If you create the email with Gmail, it does need to be opened to Gmail, and ones created with Outlook need to be opened with Outlook.

If you are using Outlook, please uninstall and clear the cache for IE, then install this updated version which should work with emails after they have been moved. https://d2dq6e731uoz0t.cloudfront.net/27d69392edce0cbd2d7128b9c74d070d/as/OutlookTodoist.Adx.exe

This is a serious problem on iOS. If I click the link, then it should open the specific email in the Gmail app. As it stands now, it simply takes you to Safari and opens your inbox. Very serious shortcoming. Why should I pay $29 for a premium account when it this functionality doesn't exist?

Very serious shortcoming.

Same issue here: clicking on the active link in my Todoist iPhone app merely brings me to my Gmail inbox and my most recent mail...not the specific email the task is linked to.
