Latest updates remove reminders
I have a number of recurring tasks with reminders set. After the first major update this week they all disappeared. I carefully added them back and after today's update they're gone again!
Please tell me:
- What are the exact due dates of the tasks (a few examples) affected by this?
- What type of reminders did you use (before deadline or set to a specific date)?
- What was the delay or date/time of the reminders (1-2 examples would do)?
I'm seeing something similar to this as well.
I have tasks which I want a mobile reminder 30 minutes prior to the due time, if I view the web app then the reminders are clearly displayed however no reminders are present in the Android app.
To see if this was an issue with the update where my data got a little screwy I cleared all data from the App and relogged in. Now the tasks correctly show reminders. However these tasks repeat and when I complete the task the reminder disappears from the task.
In order to get reminders correctly I'm having to reset the app and relogin every day, this is getting old fast.
*Due date examples
- every Thurs at 9am
- after 30 days @ 9am starting jan 28
- every 2 days at 5pm starting today
There was also one nonrecurring example: today at 5pm
*All reminders were set to be a certain time before the deadline
*Delay was set to 30 minutes in all cases (I think)
Thank you for your report, our developers are looking into it and this will be addressed in next updates. Sorry for the inconvenience.
It seems that the reminders are also disappearing from the web app as well.
Have reset all the reminders for my recurring tasks, but once a task occurs and is checked off as completed, the reminder disappears. This is totally unacceptable in an app that costs this much!
Any progress on this? Reminders getting removed is very annoying and I've been late or missed some meetings because of this!
We're very sorry for the inconvenience, this issue will be addressed very soon.
Thank you David. And will you be extending our premium memberships for the time period that they have not been working correctly?
Yes, we will.
Has this been fixed already? I am also noticing dissapearing reminders continuously. This is very inconvenient, as I really need to be able to rely on reminders to get important things done.
Unfortunately not yet, we're working on it right now and it will be fixed very soon in the next update of our Android app. Sorry for the inconvenience.
This issue has been addressed in the latest version of our app. Please let us know in case you're still experiencing it.
I noticed that in the changelog for the release this morning and added the reminders back to the appropriate tasks. So far so good but I'll let you know tomorrow if all is well or not.
So far so good for me too ... fingers crossed :)
Well it looks like this is only partly working.
After the update yesterday I added a new recurring task (EV day at 5:30 pm) with a 0 min reminder. I received the reminder correctly and when I marked it done, the task moved to today with the reminder intact ... yay!
I then went in and edited all my old tasks to add their reminders back.
Today, alas, all the reminders are gone except for the one attached to the new task that I added yesterday :(
So this seems to be working for newly added tasks but I've lost even more functionality on existing ones. At least before the reminders stayed until the next occurrence.
SImilar behaviour for me, of the five daily task I have with reminders (30 mins before due time) only two had the reminders repeat until today. The three others the reminders disappeared. All these are existing tasks, including the ones that the reminders stayed intact.
So it's better but still not fixed. Using version 3.1.2.
Thanks for the information. We will look into this issue for old tasks.
Yesterday I added reminders to all my recurring tasks through the web, today I open Todoist Android and see that they have all disappeared again. Seems like the bug has not been fixed.
The most recent update (3.1.2) seems to have resolved the lingering issues. Must admit that I haven't been using the web interface at all.
Reminders are a big issue for me. They simply don't work reliably. Will have to switch back to TickTick unless this is fixed pronto.
I know it's not a great suggestion, but if you could remove Todoist from all locations, your mobile, browser extensions, etc. Clear the cache for all browsers (chrome and safari for desktop apps). Clear data for Android, log out and uninstall on iOS.. Making sure its' completely gone from everywhere, then go to your Todoist.com settings, remove any devices listed in the Settings area. Then, re-login, re-install one by one.
This shouldn't be needed, but we have seen this help some people.
Done on all my devices, went I signed back in a noticed several tasks had two identical mobile reminders configured. I'll see how things go and report back.
Followed suggestions. Same problems. Reminders just don't do anything.
Are you using version 3.1.2 of our app? Did you try to reinstall it?
I believe so. Uninstalled from phone, tablet and chrome browser. Reinstalled from Google Play.
Please organise a refund for the premium purchase as I don't have any more time to spend on this. May re visit in the future when a) you have fixed reminders and b) they are easier to apply.
We're sorry to hear that :-( Please send us the order reference ID of your payment to receive a refund.
The only reference I appear to have is the paypal transaction id: 88889329EE6653507
Followed suggestions...it appears to be working again. Thanks!
Your payment has now been refunded.
Apparently I spoke too soon ... all my recurring task reminders vanished overnight :-(
You have updated to the latest, and followed all instructions in this thread, recent suggestions as well?
I have also followed Brendon's instructions (removed all reference to Todoist on all browsers and all mobile platforms, reinstalled Todoist en added reminders to al my recurring tasks). Today I open Todoist web and see that all recurring reminders have disappeared once again. Same on Todoist Android, v. 3.1.2 :-(
Haven't followed those instructions yet as I haven't had time but I will try this morning.
New bit of information: it it seems to be rebooting an android device that is making them disappear.
P.S. I am using version 3.1.2
Well, I went through the steps as described by Brendan on 16 Feb and now I have NO REMINDERS ANYWHERE. Here is what I did (documented as I did it):
1. On phone and tablet (both Android):
- logged out
- cleared app data
2. On web (Chrome browser):
- deleted multiple reminders (apparently every time I've added them back in Android, they have "taken" on the web). Interestingly the “test” item I had added via tablet when this reminder issue started happening did not have a reminder on the web.
- logged out of Todoist
- cleared cache
3. Logged back in on the web and removed all devices.
4. Reinstalled on mobile, logged in. Reminders were there. Added reminder to “test” item - it then showed up on the web.
5. Reinstalled on tablet, logged in. Reminders were there (including for “test” item).
6. Powered off mobile, powered back on - reminders still there.
7. Powered off tablet, powered back on - NO REMINDERS.
At some point between steps 6 and 7, ALL REMINDERS FROM EVERYWHERE DISAPPEARED!!!!! None on the mobile, none on the tablet, none on the web.
What do you recommend now?
(FWIW I have added the reminders back via the web - but I have no confidence at all that this will help. And even if it does, it's not good enough ... I rarely use Todoist on the web.)
Just rebooted my tablet for giggles. All reminders gone. Time to look for a new productivity app!
Have the same problem over and over again. Starting to irritate me more and more. Using it for family (5 paid users) and office purposes but cannot rely on it completely when this was one of the major key arguments to purpose the paid version.
Using it on Android, Ipad and Chrome but have to check too many times during the day if Todoist is performing properly.
Please make sure that this (specific) paid feature is working well. As many others I'm willing to help and be patient as I understand this has been a major change within Todoist but patience isn't infinitive.
As Susan notes on Feb 19, 2014 - 02:43, I can also confirm that reminders disappear after powering off- and on my Android device.
I'm also having issues with reminders and did the following test:
1) Cleared the cache
2) Added a new task, due: today @ 12:45
Checked under reminders and it showed a mobile notification 30 minutes before
Got reminder on phone 30 mins before as expected.
Snoozed this reminder
Did NOT receive reminder at the time the task was due
3) At the same time as I added the task above, I added another new task, due: today
Manually added reminder for 12:52 today
Did NOT receive this reminder
In the main task list, both items showed the clock icon indicating there's a reminder set, but now I've passed the times they were due, the clock icons are not present, suggesting that the app has "lost" the reminder setting.
As Susan described, my reminders that appeared to be working disappeared overnight! I followed the recommended instructions as well. Are there any more suggestions?
After examining, I am experiencing the same problem as the others. When my android device powers down, my reminders are deleted. I turn off my android device at night, so this was most likely the cause of the reminders disappearing overnight.
Notably, the reminders remained in the web app until I turned the device back on.
We're sorry for the inconvenience, we're looking into it, but please tell me - are you using any task killer apps?
I don't either.
This actually has helped me troubleshoot the same issue I'm having as well. When my device powers back on my reminders are all removed from Android as well as the web app.
I also do not use any task killers.
I don't use task killers also.
The general issue will be fixed in the next release. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Michael, regarding the snoozing issue, please tell me:
- Did you reset the phone in the meantime? If so, the snooze won't work;
- Did you complete the task in the meantime? If so, the notification won't appear, since the task is already completed.
After re-adding all my reminders things seemed to be working fine, I rebooted my phone and everything was fine; the reminders remained. However after rebooting my tablet they are gone!
I'm using 3.1.2 on Android 4.4.2 on both a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7 (2012).
I'm not using any task killer apps either.
No, I neither reset the phone or completed the task. I set up a couple of dummy tasks just to confirm that reminders weren't working.
Because I didn't snooze the task for 10 mins or so after it prompted me, I actually got a reminder, presumably based on the 'snooze' some 10 mins after the time the task was due.
After the Android update today I rebooted my phone and it appears this has been fixed. I'll keep a closer eye on it for the next day or so, but hopefully this has resolved my issue.
Appreciate the responsiveness.
1) Having downloaded/installed the new version, I set up the following on my phone having cleared the app cache from phone settings
2) Test 1
Due today @ 12:15
App auto-showed "mobile notification 30 mins before"
FAILED - Did NOT receive a reminder either 30 mins before or at the due time :'-(
3) Test 2
Due today (no time)
Reminder set for 12:25
PASSED - Received reminder :-D
Thank you for the report, I'll pass it to the developers. Just to clarify - you've added the task due today @ 12:15 before it was 11:44?
@David: Yes, it was - even if it was after that time, I should have got a reminder at the time it was due?
No, if you would set the task less than 30 minutes into the future, the reminder which would then already be past due would not arrive and unless you manually add another one to "0 minutes before", then the 30 minutes before will not arrive at the task's due date only, as it says, 30 minutes before this date. In this case, it would only be sent exactly at 11:45 - 30 minutes before 12:15
Well it's been several days and so far everything seems to be OK.
Same with me, it seems to be finally fixed.
So nobody is having any issues with reminders anymore? I uninstalled the Android app and my Mac app, but reminders keep disappearing. When I add a reminder in the Mac app, it'll remain there until the Android app syncs with / overwrites it. When I create a reminder in the Android app, it disappears as soon as "added" appears in my screen.
I'm no longer having problems with them and it's been well over a week.
Same here. No problems. Working flawlessly. I don't have anything Mac, so that's the only thing I can suggest looking into.
