"do it today" tasks get repeatedly moved back to yesterday

J

Nexus 4 on Android 4.3. Todoist app 2.0.11

- Go into "next 7 days" view
- select all non-recurring tasks from yesterday
- press the "3 dots / more menu items" button
- select "do it today"
- see the selected tasks move to "today"
- go back to Android home screen
- 1-2 hours later open todoist next 7 days view again, see previously selected tasks back in "yesterday"
- open todoist on the web, see all the moved tasks in "today"

Expected: I move the tasks once, they stay moved, on all platforms.

Hello JG,

Please tell me, does Todoist as well as any device you use it on (especially Android) set to the correct time zone?

Also, you've said that you see the task being moved a couple hours later, but if you would try to reproduce it now, then go to a project view and then back to 7 days, will you see this change right-away or does it always take a certain amount of time to change?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

It happens most typically at work where I have spotty mobile service.

I move my tasks to today with the app and everything syncs. I check the website via chrome and it looks good. I go back into the app and at some point it reverts back to the previous version with most of my tasks back in 'yesterday'.

I don't have any timezone issues I'm aware of.

Going into a project and back to next 7 days doesn't change anything.

It's like the app loses connection to the web and reverts to an old cached copy.

As a test i just cleared the app data and cache and signed back into the app and the data is correct - no task in 'yesterday'.

JG,

The app does indeed cache data and if it can't connect, it will read the cache, but even then - the cache should contain all the changes you've made that are not synced.

I will pass this to the developer and the direct cache reading before sync feature was added quite recently so it may cause such issues.

Best regards,
David

Hi david,

I also experience excactly the same problem.
And the label changing too. I usually change the label in a task. And i always did it from android apps.
So this is what happened :
If i change the label of my task from label A to label B, it will changed directly. But in acouplw hours, that task will be labeled with label A AND label B.

Could you fix this, david?

Hello Simon,

Thank you for your report, we've made some changes in the syncing process, they will be available in the next update.

Also getting this issue.. everything's up to date. It's happening everyday.. These messages above were in November. . Should it have been fixed already?

Ronald,

Please confirm, your timezone settings for all devices are the same, you have cleared the cache for the app and it continues?

Thanks,
Brendon.

I still experience the same problem. Everyday I have to enter application manager and clear the cache. And I have to login everyday. I think the problem is not about wrong time zone setting. When I open from browser, the tasks are in their latest state. I think the problem is in your Android application. Please fix this problem asap.
FYI : I've purchased the premium account.

That would be awesome.. Because I never use it in Gmail so am wondering where to even start.. Just checked on the computers I log in to Gmail with and they are not logged into todoist but Yes the time zone settings are the same already. I just use the app on android and finally found that for my style of gogogo work that expands in quantity of tasks without very specific day deadlines is best for me to just keep adding to inbox then every day assessing what i can realistically do in my next work phase and 'add it today'. Otherwise ifi try to keep it actively organized by day then i keep looking at the app and reorganizing the timeline. But this glitch affects that.. id like to keep using it rather than switch to another app.. And maybe go premium for the support.. so hopefully this next update fixes it like you say..
