The settings menu shows an option for Quick Add to be on or off. I can't find anywhere that describes what that is.
When "Quick add" is checked, a TD icon at the top left of your android status bar will show up. If you pull down the notification bar, you will see "Add Task" button, which pops up a dialog to add a new task.
It's the quickest way to add a new task when needed :)
Is there a way to hide the quick add icon from the notification bar (like Ticktick does)?
There is no way to do this at this time.
I believe that icons should only be displayed to indicate that a notification needs attention. You really should find a way to hide the icon while the Quick Add statusbar entry is enabled. I know this can be done on Android.
It would be great if you could make a way for us to hide the Quick Add. It's fine to see when we pull down the notification shade, so we can add a task, but not in the status bar. I didn't mind it so much before Lollipop, but I really do not want to see it on my lock screen. If you could make that happen that would be great. Thanks for all of your great work on Todoist.
As a follow up to this question, I too believe adding perhaps an invisible type icon to the permanent notification would be great!
Any updates to this?
As an alternative to using the quick add feature via the notification, I use the "Todoist add task" widget on my home screen. It looks just like an application icon, but it's actually a widget that takes you right to the Quick Add window in Todoist, without having to open the app.
Pretty handy, and no annoying notification icon. (The notification icons in my screen shot are all actual reminders).
