Integration with Google Tasks - is it possible?
It would be fine to have an integration with some projetc´s tasks with google tasks.
I would apreciate it because in gmail we have a very easy way to turn e-mails into google tasks by selecting the checkboxes.
So, it would create the google tasks, and then it would show here in Todoist.

Maybe that's a great way to insert todoist task into Google calendar, separating task form events

The only but for todoist is the google task unintegration.

And if it was a two-way sync, then this could also be a better way to add email tasks into todoist.
The Todoist Anywhere thing is a joke because it makes assumptions about how you use gmail (in a full browser with a link bar). Chrome allows you to "create application shortcut" of a webpage, that will eliminate the chrome fluff and only launch that webpage, looking more like a real app. So without the link bar, the "we didnt want to write a bunch of plugins for different email clients" solution of Todoist Anywhere with gmail integration, alas, sucks.

Hi Ben
If you are using Chrome then you should checkout our Chrome plugin - - which integrates very well with Gmail!
Download it from here (where you can also check out an introduction video): http://todoist.com/chrome
Best regards,
Amir

Amir, I respectfully disagree. The button bar which holds the Chrome plugin is not present when running a page as an application, making the plugin unavailable. When talking about integration, im talking about embedded features inside the application. Example: Open an email, click More, then Add to Tasks. That is true integration. A link there like "Add to Todoist" would be the real deal.
I have been looking for a way (a hotkey perhaps) that allows chrome to popup the location/button bar in a webpage running as an application.

Hi again Ben
I am unaware of "running a web-app" as an application. Could you point to an article that explains this functionality (it's not something I am aware of).
Regards,
Amir

Launch chrome, open goto gmail.com, click the tool icon, click Tools, click Create Application Shortcut. Click create, then close the webpage. Then find the link on your desktop/toolbar/start menu and re-launch it. You'll notice that the only real difference is that the toolbar is missing and the UI has shrunk slightly. Pinning gmail to a taskbar (windows 7 or docky in linux) is an excellent way to pretend that gmail is a "real" app ;-)

Here is a related thread on opening the address bar in application mode, which it apparently doesn't do. Too bad, that would be a good workaround.

Anyway, thanks for the response. I'd love to know if there is a _good_ work-around for this.

Thanks for the writeup Ben. It seems like this isn't available for the Mac version of Chrome.
We are currently improving our Chrome plugin and we will keep this in mind, maybe by adding an even greater integration with Gmail, by for example annotating emails directly with "Add to Todoist".

Amir

Your welcome. Otherwise, todoist rocks

Hi everybody,
I'd like to make a +1 to Ben's proposal, which i really find good. This non-synchronisation with googletask and/or the luck of this "add to todoist" button are the the two things that really take backward todoist to be the best task manager !
I hope you'll find these proposal interesting and have fun on working on them !
thanks !
L.B.
ps. todoist rocks :-)
If you could just make phase 1 a keyboard shortcut that would work for me. Alt+T or something while I am on an email would be great.
I see premium version has a way to "export" to gmail
but is there a true "two way" sync?
if not, will there ever be?
or is there a reason that it's not necessary that I'm missing here?
thanks!

I also think one of the great things about google tasks is the task showing up on your google calendar with a checkbox too, so making that work would also be amazing.
To the Todoist Staff,
The only thing preventing me from paying for Todoist (even at today's offer of 50% ($14) off the yearly subscription) is that there is no integration (i.e. 2 way sync) with Google Tasks. I am a big user of Google Calendars and Google Tasks along with 3rd party apps that sync with them, but to have Todoist only sync with Google Calendars is , not as simple, less productive, and just plain annoying.
Calendars are for Meetings/Appointments and important dates to remember, so why would you want it flooded with basic daily tasks and reminders?
Todoist definitely looks prettier than Google Task's which is the reason why I would like to use it, but it is just not worth worth paying extra for the eye-candy and then the hassle of parting ways with Google Tasks? Why limit your consumer audience (which seem to be mainly Apple users)?
I would very much consider paying for a subscription if it synced with Google Tasks. If it did, I would also be able to close my Evernote account as Todoist would then do everything I need ( a one stop shop).
Just some food for thought :)

Haydn nailed it!
Todoist COULD be THE great todo app... multi-platform, beautiful ui, robust yet elegantly simple... deep and tight (legit) Google integration should be a no-brainer.
There are a million productivity apps out there and most of them are bulky and ugly, and lacking real usefulness, awash in a sea of "features." I cannot understand why everyone thinks they are going to develop the next great "platform" and all of the Microsoft, or Apple, or Google users are going to abandon their current ecosystem to jump aboard the latest bandwagon held together by paperclips and bubble gum, being usually no more than a copycat anyway. Your application actually has potential to ADD legitimate usefulness (additional functionality) to the existing Google ecosystem. It adds a little sugar to the Google kool aid so to speak... But be clear on this...I (and many like me) am looking for centralization and simplification (improving my workflow versus completely changing it), and wouldn't dump whatever measure of that I have already found in Google, just to have a slightly sweeter, albeit stand-alone, version of an existing app...
There's now an official Google Tasks API... why not get it done?

Hello Ben,
Thank you very much for your feedback, we appreciate it. We will of course consider adding such functionality in the future. We're constantly improving existing features and add new ones. Each requires a lot of time and resources to make it right so we can't give you any timeframes, but any feature that will add functionality and yet keep the clean structure of Todoist is being considered for future updates.
Best regards,
David

We understand you need to be picky about where you focus...
But we're telling you where. :)
Align yourself with google tasks and functions... and become a billionare... be the GO-TO app for tasks...
come on... you know you want it...

Until Google Task integration is perfomed, I still have to prefer any.do :(

Im a new user on Todoist because i want an app that can add photos and attachments to my task. However, I already established most of my tasks and lists on Google Tasks and the unavailability of importing those onto Todoist gives me no chopice but to go back to Google tasks.
Pls consider this feature.
I've been using Todoist for 8 months now. I started using it mainly as a replacement task/todo integration in Outlook (works great!) and now I want to fully migrate by importing my personal google tasks. I am a paid subscriber and plan to renew indefinitely.
Please use the google tasks API to create at least a manual import process from google tasks to Todoist.
Also, while a two-way sync may "sound" good to new users, it's not necessary -- Todoist fully integrates with gmail (as well as Outlook) so you no longer would need to use google tasks (just as you no longer need to use Outlook tasks/todos).
Thank you!
