Ability to "star" a task, which adds it automatically to a hotlist
What would be helpful to me is to have the ability to "star" a task, which then would automatically add the task to a "hotlist" filter.
This filter should be available from the main page (much like the links under the "Filter tasks.." input box.
See how Toolledo or Gmail does this feature. It can be an unobtrusive part of the UI.
The reason why it's valuable is because I don't want to tediously have to add and remove labels, and I don't want to have to mess with priorities in due dates. All of that information is used to help me make decisions about what I want to do today, and I want to select the tasks I want to do today by clicking a "star" icon beside the tasks.
Once I've starred all the tasks I want to do today, it creates, of course, my today's todo list.
It's a convenience feature that is an obstacle for me adopting this web service.

I have been using ToDoist for three months -- great program! The "star" feature would be a fantastic addition. I like the way gmail has the star right next to the check box.
Add a sort that is for "starred" items. You could quickly go through your To Do List and select some items to put at the top of your list without messing up your other sorts (priority or date).
This would also be a good feature for a shopping list. You go through your kitchen and quickly "star" the items you need at the store. Hit the "star" sort and you have your shopping list.
Thanks for the continued development of the program!

Heya David,
I'm actually using the "Do it today" feature they added a while ago. It's working for me. I think it's a nice compromise, because I assume they aren't including the star in order to keep their interface uncluttered.

How does that work? I looked in their help information and did not find that feature.

Jullan,
How does the "Do It Today" feature work? I looked in their help information and did not find it.
What I am doing -- to mark for "today" takes a four step process for each task. If they added a "star" - it would be a one step process.
Thanks
David

Hello David,
Simply right-click on a task and you'll be able to choose "Do it today" from the context menu (that's a 2-step process).
As an even better alternative, if you're not using task priorities too much, you can "star" a task, by choosing a certain priority for it. For example, right-click on a task and choose the first priority (or type !p1 within the task name as you add it). Now, you can simply type p1 within the search box in the top-left corner to see all tasks with this priority.
A prioritized task will also have a colored check box to easily distinguish it from the rest.
Best regards,
David
