Save searches

Remember the Milk has a feature where you can save searches to "smart lists." It would be great to have something like that.

I'd love to have something like:
http://todoist.com/app#agenda/priority__1,__priority__2,__priority__3

and especially showing number of non-completed tasks similar to projects now.

Just started using Todoist last week and I love so many things about it. It is easy to use and pleasing visually. I was using RTM, but Todoist has the advantage of sub folders (sub projects) and sub tasks, which is huge for ease of use. The only thing I really miss about RTM is the saved searches!

The ability to save searches would greatly increase the ease of use and value of using Todoist.

For example I may have a number of items across a number of different projects that relate to a specific employee and need to be discussed in our recurring 1 on 1 meeting. If I could save a search for the tags (@agenda @person), it would be awesome!

This would help with the GTD principles of maintaining separate "action" lists from "agenda" lists, while still allowing me to keep items in their "project" they are related to.

Heather, you said it right. This is my situation as well. Without being able to save searches, finding appropriate next actions is a little time consuming.

Another possibility is using Projects as Contexts and labels as projects. Meh

+1 for this. I workarounded it via bookmarks in a folder in the bookmarks bar in chrome.

Definitely an important feature.

I have compared todoist with all the major task management applications and also with dozens of lesser known apps. My conclusion is that smartlisting (creating dynamic projects according to search criterias) is the most important feature that todoist lacks. I believe this is also the feature which would make the biggest difference for todoist. Smartlist feature may not be simple to implement but it would definitely attract many RTM users and also win the current todoist users' hearts..

I would love this feature.

I definitely agree with Heather G. I was using RTM and what I miss now is the possibility to save my own custom searches (filters).

Guy it's pretty simple to do (saving searches) - just make your search, then copy the link you get in the address bar of your browser and past it as a *task in a project called Saved Searches.
Done :)

Just as todoist can save links for web pages and emails it can do it for it's own stuff as well :)

That's a great workaround, Tomer. Thank you for that! <Said as he slaps his forehead thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?">

There's only ONE caveat about saving searches: the URL also contains the VERSION number of the todoist program! If you watch your address bar over time, you'll see that the number after "v=" changes (assuming you log out and log in from time to time) ...

It would be great to allow these saved searches in the same space as the project links.

I saw that the Android app now has the option to add a custom filter, but the web app still doesn't. I'd like to see the same option in the web app, so the custom filters are synchronized.

I'm actually surprised this isn't the number 1 requested feature. Flexibility in how you like to view your tasks is key IMO.

+1 to a fantastic idea. Would these show as Smart Projects down the left hand side with a Project Name and a view filter?
