what for?
If you plan to go on vacation, you should plan your tasks accordingly ...

I'd like this vacation mode to set for an entire project, like when I go on vacation at work, rather than waste time going through all my tasks and either incorrectly completing the 50 tasks every day of my vacation, or changing the due dates just for a few days of a week every few months would really inconvenience me, and be a waste of time, unless there was a vacation button or something.

Another thing is if I go on work conferences, I'm no longer in the office, for that whole week, so it'd be nice to put those recurring tasks on vacation mode. I'd probably redo my projects so that recurring tasks were in a subproject called "Recurring tasks" of my different employer projects (I work at multiple companies). Then I would just set those recurring tasks as on vacation when I went on a work conference.

Another idea would be to make the vacation setting only affect the recurring tasks. If you have a task that only has a solid due date, then you should definitely plan that type of task accordingly. So I see that's where you wouldn't need it. But I still need it for recurring tasks when I go on vacation. Hopefully you understand now.

Upon returning from a 2-week vacation, I lost 10 karma points per day after about 10 days for being "inactive for longer period of time." Ideally, a "vacation" button would be added that tells todoist not to expect productivity from me while it is enabled.

Yes, I often have to travel for work and I have a lot of recurring tasks that don't apply when I'm not IN the office. I'd like to be able to pause them while I'm away.

I found how to emulate a vacation mode =)
I archived my home and work projects before the vacation and unarchived them when I get back.

This would be helpful because like another poster, I lost 10 Karma points a day for "inactivity" while on vacation. I had completed all tasks, recurring and not, before I left. Karma is just a game, but it should be fair so that it is an effective motivator.
