Currently notes are not searchable (http://todoist.com/Support/showQuestion/1271/). This would be a great addition to the product. Please consider adding it.
If there's mixed reactions to this idea (which would surprise me), perhaps adding an option to the preferences module, which allows users to determine whether queries will search just the task field or task and notes.
I am surprised that this suggestion only has 6 votes (mine included!). I often create duplicate tasks because I have a lot on my plate. I would prefer to have a feature that would allow me to quickly find a specific task by being able to search keywords in the task name, comments and description.
I agree. I use notes pretty extensively so being able to search in them would be extremely helpful.
I just voted as well! I agree. I don't like putting long detailed information in the task title, particularly if the information includes bullet points or multiple paragraphs of information. Using notes for this purpose is perfect. I really wish the notes were searchable, though.
I do agree, it will be a very convenient feature to have a full searchable task sheet.
This is a definite must for me :)
Please add query for notes!
Agreed. And especially in conjunction with q: wildcard/partial search (Todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/45/#comment_1555 )
Now it works! Thank you very much! :-)
A big thanks
The improved search feature implemented yesterday will include task notes. As you type in a full or partial keyword (even without q:), you will see tasks that not only match by name, but also by the content of notes.
Nice. Thanks, David!
Fantastic update! Thank you so much!
Sweet!!! thanks so much!
Thanks a lot! Much anticipated feature!
Thanks! I can start using Todoist again :)
Is it possible to get this working for completed tasks as well? For me at least, it only searches the notes of active (uncompleted) tasks; it would be great to have it apply to completed as well.
There is a bug report I recently submitted related to search in completed tasks, maybe it affects you somehow:
David Trey can clarify further.
I think Jamie was referring to searching through notes of completed tasks which is not currently possible. I thought maybe it was a bug so I asked a question about it but David Trey responded stating that it is currently not an option that is available.
I have since created a proposal so if this is what you meant Jamie, vote away...
Geoff, that is very strange. I remember using that feature to search in completed tasks' notes, but it is not working now...
David could you comment on if it was available at some point and then removed?
