Project Sharing

I want to be able to share my project with others, so that we can collaborate on it. I am aware of Wedolist, but it doesn't have subtasks (I don't know about other features).

Why is there one product with subtasks and no sharing, and another and another with sharing and no subtasks? I want both.

Hello Sam,

thank you very much for your feedback, we appreciate it.

As suggested here: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/46/ we are considering an integration of both our products. It's a long-shot and I can't give you any timeframe on this, but eventually we will combine the features of Wedoist and Todoist.

Hi David,

I see a need to share todo's in a project (only) from my private todoist account for single users w/o having to get all features from wedoist, also for occational users, i.e that do not have accounts.
Compare w/Doodle for example, where you can invite people to collaborate w/o having to set up an account. (Hopefully you'll get many new users realizing the benefits anyway.)

I also would like sharing without having to leave behind the projects I have already created in Todoist. Plus, you don't have an iPhone app for Wedoist. Although I am a premium user and have been for some time, I am considering leaving Todoist for Remember the Milk or some other product simply to get the ability to share lists with my partner. This is a major feature missing from Todoist!

Just in case, the main value for me in sharing is to be able to share some home-related 'to-do' list with my girlfriend, who is also a todoist-user.
There is no need to assign a task to a person, but just to share a list.

My suggestion is that this function should be complemented with the following ones:
- see who has completed a task (completed by be, by another user)
- email notifications as per task completement

Is there any further info on when we can expect sharing functionality in todoist? The integration in outlook is superb, but very little use when you cannot share tasks with your colleagues?

Hello Joakim,

We're already working on the integration of Todoist with our team-based project management tool https://wedoist.com which will naturally introduce task or project sharing as part of the integration.

Hey There,

I'm really liking the interface and design of todoist over the competition (producteev, astrid, RTM, orchestra, etc). However, the one thing the others have that TDist doesn't is collaboration/sharing of projects.

So I'm really excited to see that this will be integrated soon! I'm looking forward for this feature, as my wife and I use project sharing to be in sync on household stuff. It's super helpful!

Keep up the great work!

I would really appreciate to have something as simple as sharing a grocery list with my partner.

Cheers !

Absolute necessity!

As in my suggestion here:

I know you have Wedoist however Todoist is far superior and feels like a finished product, it would be an amazing feature to add an option to share projects with other people.

I do not think there is much need to Todoist and Wedoist to be separate because you will always have less time to develop the less popular one. Adding another subsciption would solve this problem, for instance: free, pro, commercial

Thank you.

Any chance you'll speed up the integration of Todoist with Wedoist now that Astrid has been bought by Yahoo? I use Todoist for work (since I don't share my work task list with others) and Astrid for lists I want to share with my boyfriend (groceries, household tasks, etc.). Now I fear that Astrid will be scrubbed -- they're not accepting new premium subscriptions and they talk about advising users on how to download their data -- not a good sign. I hated adding a second list app to my workflow, but it was necessary to get the ability to share lists. I'd much prefer to use the excellent features Todoist offers. Please, make sharing happen!

Thank you for your feedback. This is a big implementation and it can take some time to have it published, but we're working on it right now and we'll try to have it up and working as soon as we can.

I'm another Astrid user looking for a new home. The ability to share task lists was essential in my selection of Astrid.

My workplace is in the process of installing OutLook, and ToDoist seems to have decent integration with OutLook - this is a plus.

I look forward to the ability to share tasks in ToDoist.

Thanks - Allen

Yes please do hurry up! This is crucial! Me and my team at work already moved to www.todo.ly which is just a copy of Todoist but it does have this function! - just hope this is temporary move and we won't stay there for good as we like Todoist so much! But we had no choice :/

You jokers have been saying for over a year "we will considering adding this functionality, try wedoist", which lacks the same functionality.

I'm not sure if it because you guys live in closed environment and have no perspective, don't understand the market, or are dealing with insurmountable technological constraints, BUT you are missing a profitable niche here.

Todoist is one, if not the best todo apps period and was before the new GUI. I could run my company with it if it had shared projects and an ability to add a time designation with due dates. Every small service company out their would be able to do the same, I kid you not, I can run remodels, tie-in my estimation/invoicing software (Freshbooks), send out work orders, use it as our CRM much like Asana is used for AND organize my personal remodel with my fiance, our chore lists, our vacations, school, you name it.

If you look at Producteev, Astrid, Nozbe, RTMilk, Asana, Gtasks, and more, none of them allow you to both share a project, and add time designations to a calendar, its one or the other or neither.

So my question to you guys, if you could please give me an answer that is not candy coated PR doo-doo, what is the hold up? Why are you not taking the initiative to totally dominate your competition in this regard?

I have searched high and low, big and small, and have yet to find a system that will do the few basic things, we as private and commercial consumers are begging for.

As an end user, as a business owner, as a former IT professional, it is beyond mind boggling why this is the case.

I just finished an hour and a half interview with a software developer consulting him on software needs of a service company. He was blown away by some of the most simple concepts and needs I described to him. He had no that some of my industries complex needs could be serviced so simply. Why is that? Why cannot a multi-million dollar industry with outstanding talent not create a simple comprehensive software solution? Look a the competition, see what works, and get consulted by folks who have their boots on the ground using your product.

I love you guys, I want to use you guys, I want to give you MONEY, but for Pete's sakes, add the ability to share a freaking to do list with my employees! I'd gladly pay you for that and so would hundreds of thousands of other users who are about to flee Astrid, and who are in a position like me waiting for the first company to deliver a basic comprehensive software solution.

The money is there for you guys from so many angles, you are primed to be the best DO IT.

Hello Corey,

Wedoist does allow project sharing - you can invite different people to different project, have different tasks and tasks lists, documents, updates within it.

Wedoist is the main reason why we haven't implemented sharing into Todoist sooner. We have many thousands of customers using Wedoist for simple shared project management incl. Fortune 500 companies.

Nonetheless, sharing is coming to Todoist this year. Unfortunately, we can't give you the exact timeframe, but it won't take long at this point before there will be project sharing options within Todoist too. After that, we're planning to make Todoist interact with Wedoist for even better sharing options.

Best regards,

I just had a look at todopro.com as well. It has almost all the features I need - however I prefer the todoist interface - the polish, ease of use and flexibility. +1 for this feature.
I would envision using this to share individual projects/lists with my wife primarily.

Hi David, I second Juan Pablo's. Todoist is a great tool, which has helped me organizing both personal and professional todos. Having the possibility to use it with my future wife would be just perfect - to share lists (ie.: groceries), todos (ie.: bill payments) and projects (ie: wedding). Hope to see this simple feature available soon. Best, Daniel.

Hi David,

now that I read, that shared lists are coming up I'm more than happy. Todoist is the tool of my choice especially for work that I like to use in addition! to project tools.

If you manage to include shared lists soon that would just be perfect for my kind of workflow :)

Best from Berlin!

Just tested out 6 ToDo sites/programs. We are a Managed Services Provider here in the US, and have a few clients asking for which product to use. Ya'll take the cake! Except for this shared environment of ToDoist. WeDoist doesn't quite match up in our opinion.

Do you have any comments on when Lists/Tasks will be able to be shared?

Hi Trey,

We do not have any specific date set for when these features are going to be released, as we always do it this way, we like to make sure it's working as our number one concern.

We do know we are hoping for it to be soon, hopefully within the year but again, this is no guarantee.

Can you say if it is going to definitely be added at some point? (Don't use this as a chance to use infinite time against me). :)

Hello Trey,

We can assure you that this feature will certainly be added. As Brendon mentioned, we can't guarantee any specific release date, but at this point, this feature already work on our testing environment on the back-end, we're currently working on some further improvements and of course the UI adjustments for it so there's no way that this will not be added, it's one of the most requested features so IF is not a question, only WHEN and we hope it'll be done this year considering what we already have.

I would instantly recommend ToDoIst for my team of 15 software developers if it had a sharing feature. In the meantime, you are missing out on subscription fees.

WeDoIst lacks the features I want.

In the meantime we are using one of your competitors products.

Is this feature still going to be added soon?

With a new `upgrade` on the site and app, I would of thought a small delay would of been in order to then include the sharing function.

This makes me think it is further away from being introduced? Any update David?

Kind Regards
