+ Add Suggestion

Move the add task button to the top of the screen

KA

It's a waste of time to have to scroll down to the bottom of the project to add a task. Putting an add task button at the top of the screen would save time. Thanks.

See also Ari Koinuma's suggestion to be able to add a task from anywhere:

There is one at the top. It's a + sign in a circle.

Do you mean to add tasks to the top of the list?

I could not agree more !
Moving (or duplicating) the "(Project) Add Task" button at the top of the list (near the project name) is a must: I have to scroll each time I want to add a task, it is just non sense.

The (+) sign at the top is for adding a task to any project (you have to choose the project in this case and this is painful because unless you have less than 3 projects you have to do a lot of scrolling...).

Hello Jerome,

You can right-click on the existing task at the top and select "Add task above" as a workaround :)

Alternatively, you can open the "Add task" field within a project using the "a" key. A small "a" will open it at the bottom, a capital "A" will open it at the top.

Best regards,
David

Those hotkeys are great. Thanks. But if you can ask someone why the '+' symbol doesn't start a task at the top. The '+ add task' button at the bottom already does that job. The + button seems so pointless otherwise doing same thing. This is hurting Todoist if you can believe it. Watched too many colleagues drop it for this reason.

Also, this should be implemented on mobile! Currently adding and then moving the task from the bottom is so painful on your phone.

Paul,

On our Android app, you can tap on a task to select it and then also choose "Add task above" from the bottom-right menu, we'll add it to iOS in the future.

As for the "Quick Add" option at the top - it was not designed to crate task structures (which can be done within a project), it's a fast was to add a task from any view, maybe a quick thought to the Inbox which you can then move to another project.

Best regards,
David

Oh well :( In our cases it's not really about structure but about getting the data in quickly, and lowest number of clicks/touches, as is the case at least with a lot of the software we use. So slapping a task on top, and keeping it nearest the button is very important. Sounds lazy I know, but you don't want your eyes to jump around (ie. jump down to the bottom of the page) and you don't want to click more than you need too (ie. open menu - Add task above). The add task above idea is interesting, but most users never get it right. They most often move the task again, shuffling until it's in the best place, so click wasted.

Thanks for the replies.
