I think it's important to prioritize higher the ability to query / search projects -- because when creating a to-do, Project is the #1 most prominent field (besides Content).

You have to click "More Options" to even see the Labels... and yet querying the labels is possible but not projects? It doesn't make intuitive sense.

+1 Surprised it hasn't been added yet. In any case very necessary and would be a great productivity help!

Not just iOS - all platforms!

I was very surprised that this wasn't a capability, especially after upgrading to premium where "Create powerful filters and filter your tasks any way you like" was the selling point for me.

Well, I would like to filter by project as well. Thanks!

This is a *critical* feature. Otherwise I would have to include a tag on every item for project name in order to filter by project. That is completely redundant with organizing by Projects at all but would take prohibitively more time.

Please add this functionality! :-( It is really important for figuring out what needs to be worked on next!

I would like to see my task list organized by project, filtered by multiple filters/labels (is there any difference between the two?) . i.e. I would like to see what are the top priority tasks for project 1, 2 and 3.

Thank you!

Essentially, project is a special kind of tag. For all practical purposes, projects can be treated as tags.

I agree with georgekao - query / search / filter projects by name would really helpful when dealing with a lot of projects.

For example we use a prefix every project with a customer - currently I don't see a way to display all projects for a customer.

Arkady Grudzinsky premium
Replied on Apr 10, 2014 - 11:51

Julian, nested projects is a good way to group projects together. Clicking the top-level project displays all sub-projects as well. You may group projects by customer unless it interferes with some other project grouping system.

YES PLEASE. Add a filter option for projects. I would like to be able to create filters to just see items in a particular project, rather than having to label them.

Julian Fahrer premium

Arkady, thank for your suggestion. Nested projects is indeed a great feature. Though grouping by customers does not help in our case. We usally have maybe 20 Projects for 17 customers. And i tend to write faster than looking for a word or sentence ;)

By the way - this is not iOS specific. Actually one of the first things I thought when creating projects in web web ui was, that I'd love to have a search field to filter that project list. This would propably also be very handy for archived projects.

For the initial thought of the creater - filtering by project would help seeing what "is urgent for this project" (though this can be achieved by sorting).

I agree that filtering by project is much needed. I ran into this issue myself. Just wanted to suggest a work-around, but it may not work for everyone.

Re iOS. The support site needs an option for "All platforms", especially for feature suggestions. But I'm not sure where to file suggestions for the support site interface :-).

Agree, it would be great to be able to create filters for projects. So this way, one can create a filter for both projects and labels simultaneously.

I would like to add the suggestion for the ToDoist team that in implementing this suggestion it would be VERY helpful to make sure we had the option to search a parent project and all of it's sub-projects.

For example, I have two top level "Projects" in my list - "Active" and "Someday/Maybe". As you might imagine - "Active" contains as subprojects all the things I am currently working on. "Someday/Maybe" contains everything that's crossed my mind, but isn't being worked on currently.

Sometimes I would want to search ALL of the Active "Tree" - this is primarily how I would create a "Next Actions" list.
