Dark/Black theme for Android App/Widget

First of all I have to say I love this App it definitely keeps my life in order and I’m Loving all he updates you guys are making. I do have a suggestion though, I would like to see a dark or Black theme for the android app and the widgets (especially the widget). It has been discussed that having dark on your screen can help preserve battery life and be easier on the eyes. Not to mention it would match the dark jellybean theme. Thank you much!

Your justifications are my thoughts precisely... Better battery life, and most of my thoughts and to-dos come to me in the evening when my eyes are shot anyway. Darker themed Todoist would be greatly appreciated!

The widget needs to be dark theme if it can be used at all. And a dark theme for the app would improve usability significantly.
I think the white theme on phone is simply a remnant of a time when iOS design was the standard. Android is about usability - and a white theme detracts from this.

Can I also suggest a night with that uses this theme? It is helpful to activate if on a flight or making updates to the app whilst the missus is asleep.

I will say that I disagree with you guys a little bit, I think the white looks better than black would. But black would give better battery life, and Android's all about options, so I think it would be beneficial to add it in as an option.

The widget, on the other hand, should definitely have a dark theme, as white doesn't work with a lot of wallpapers/home screen setups.

Keep up the awesome work devs!

It is useful to have two options for the following benefits, as outlined above:

- Supports Users during darkened environments (flights, theatre, cinema etc)
- Better reading tones for eyes
- Better battery life preservation
- Better support of different widget environment/backgrounds

I'd like add my vote for this feature.

I have recently started using Todoist again after first trying it a few years ago. And, I love it! The new changes have made it much more conducive to my needs and I am now more productive than ever.

Sure, as probably every user feels, there are a few things that I would do differently if I had built the app myself. But, the ONLY thing that is currently driving me crazy about the app is the bright white background.

I am often adding to my task list at night as I am trying to fall asleep and remembering things I want to write down and get out of my head. But, turning on the phone to add a task is currently no easier on my eyes than turning on the light to write on a piece of paper.

Throughout the day, I love to leave my tablet on and sit it next to my computer with my task list open such that I can quickly glance at what needs to be done next. But, the bright white drains the battery so much quicker than if I leave an app open with a black background.

As Ryan Moelter pointed out, the white background is sleak and quite possibly more stylist that a dark theme would be, but it is not at all practical for my needs.

In fact, I would love to see a dark/night theme option across all Todoist platforms, which shouldn't be too much more work than adding it to the Android app (as all platforms seem to have the same structure), but my biggest request is for this to be available on Android.

Thanks for making such a great product! :-)

This currently prevents me from using the product. +1 to the request.

Absolutely agrees and it shouldn't be too hard.
Lack of dark or transparent widget theme also prevents me from using the product +1 to the request.

I use Aviate as my launcher with its awesome dark theme. And I use Todoist widget's on my homepage. In dark, it'll be an awesome duo.

Thanks for the work.
Todoist is the best.

Whilst a lot of the comments are about battery life, I'm voting purely on the fact that it looks so much better! I've recently switched from RTM, and before choosing Todoist, I had reviewed a number of the competitors. Any.do's black theme looks SO nice. Unfortunately it lacks a lot of other features, which is why I didn't choose it. Most people's phones are black, and the black theme makes the screen seamlessly look like part of the phone. Definitely +1 for a black theme for Todoist! :)
