I would love to add files like in the Web app.
Yes because I can't email files from my phone nor can I add files via the app from my phone. I have to first take my picture and then send it to the internets then get on a computer then download it from the internets then drag and drop it from my desktop to the webapp.
Since you can add attachments at all it seems like I should be able to do that same thing from my phone. I mean, I capture mostly all of my new inbox-type information via my phone anyway.
+1 from me - must have for the mobile app!
I use Todoist from within Thunderbird and primarily create tasks from emails.
When I go to Todoist on the Android, all I see is the Subject of the email, which may or may not tell me what the task is.
The body of the email needs to be attached to the todo on an Android OR displayed in a note for the todo.
Please note that with Todoist Premium, in addition to the "Add email as task" feature that only links to the message, you can also use the "Email tasks to this project" feature which allows you to forward a message to a Todoist project from anywhere and the entire body of the message becomes a task note.
Please read this post on our blog explaining both options in detail: https://todoist.com/blog/2013/01/zero-inbox-policy-with-todoist/
Hi David, are you working on the ability to attach files in android? What about viewing files offline instead of having to follow a link?
Attachement support is currently quite rudimentary.
Yes, our Android developers are working on this right now. Unfortunately, I can't give you any exact details how it will work, but the file attachment option on our web-app sends the file to the cloud to make it accessible from everywhere so we'll most likely implement a similar feature on Android.
thanks for the reply. Does this mean that it will not be possible to atttach files to a note while offline?
Correct, it will need to be connected to allow the upload to work.
This is a must. Astrid's ability to attach an audio file (for note to self) or photo was indispensable. Making quick tasks becomes so much easier with file attachment.
Whereas I think that it's not the best behavior, I can understand that you need to be connected to upload. This will make simpler to implement the functionality. However, I would like to know whether I would be able to access the attachments off-line once I have accessed them previously (local cache).
And personally, I can accept the "on-line only" behavior if it's a first multi-step implementation, with a future roadmap looking for a local/cached solution. Unfortunately it's not always possible to be connected, and sometimes the connection is just too slow to make it productive.
At this time, for you to access your data (tasks and notes) you need to be online before going offline, and the mobile apps can be offline and you can still access everything. So I would assume the behavior would be the same for when attachments are added.
take photo and add it to task could open new possibilities for usage for example on construction site ...
Attache files is a must... now!
Don't force users (me) to leave for other competitors.
Do you by now know when it will be implemented?
Although we can't give you a timeframe, we're working on easy file management options for our apps.
I'm very glad to read that, as I became premium above all for that feature. Very often, I take photos like reminders and I was very disappointed that I can't attache a file with my android.
Use todoist system Allen and function add files to mobile devices, for me, is critical. When I paid for a year of use todoist, I thought that this feature is already there. :-)
You can add files from your mobile using email. You need to activate the option "Create task from email", and then send an email with an attached file.
It's not very practical, but it works.
Soledad, thank you very much for the comment. You could not tell where it is possible to set it up? Because I can't find. Another question is whether you can add tasks inbox sending them to a specific email address?
You can only do this for a project. Each project has his email address.
