Formatting issues on iPhone app
I notice that text I have formatted on your web app looks fine, but on the iPhone app, I can see exclamation marks where I have bolded project names (bolded tasks do not have this problem).
In addition, tasks that have checkboxes concealed with the use of an asterisk appear fine on the web app, but the * appears in front of these same tasks in the mobile app. Is there a fix planned for this?

Thank you for your report, we're aware of these issues and we're going to fix them in next updates of our app. We're currently completely rebuilding our iOS app which should make it faster and allow us to implement new features, better dub-task handling and much more.
1. Now that I've had a chance to try out the new iOS apps a little bit, I see that asterisks used to remove checkboxes from tasks are still fine on the web app, but continue to be displayed on the new mobile apps. Will this be rectified?
2. In addition, any info I recorded in Todoist a few years years ago using the old formatting methods you used to employ (e.g. %(b)bold% and %(i)italics%), continues to display properly on the web app, but still displays "incorrectly" on the new mobile apps (i.e. percentage marks and brackets from original formatting are all visible). Does this mean that I have to go back in and change all my original formatting on the web in order for everything to display properly on the new iOS apps?
To answer your questions:
1. We're unsure how and if we will support the asterisk feature. It's difficult to maintain across platforms and if you have many tasks under a certain task "header", you could try to create a sub-project instead (this could even increase functionality).
2. The syntax %(b)bold% (and italic) has been deprecated a long time ago. Now, you can make text !! bold !! or __italic__ with this syntax. It's also the default when you use the keyboard shortcuts and the old syntax will not be supported anymore.

1. Your work-around would work for some of the things I use the asterisk for, but definitely not others.
2. I am aware that the syntax changed some time ago, and I am aware of the new syntax, and have been using it since it was introduced. However, I never felt the need to go back and change the original syntax on my older tasks (many of which I have not deleted because they are more like notes I use for reference) since both approaches displayed correctly on the web app. My question is: in order to have the formatting display correctly on the mobile apps, do I need to go back and change the syntax on my older tasks (even though they look fine on the web app) in order for them to comply with the new iOS apps?
Regarding the syntax, yes, you will unfortunately need to change the syntax in existing tasks as we will most likely not implement support for the old syntax in the new iOS app.
As for the asterisk - could you please post an example of a situation where an asterisk-task would be beneficial? As always, we appreciate any feedback and the better we understand how some of our features are used, the better we can improve them or support them so we would greatly appreciate your feedback :)

As far as the asterisks go, it may seem trivial to some, but one of the things I really appreciate about Todoist (especially the web app) is the ability to customize. For years I have taken notes, both written and on a keyboard, using formal outlining methodology, meaning that headings/titles are never bulleted (or in the case of Todoist, "checkboxed"). For me, seeing bullets or checkboxes automatically identifies a list of notes or tasks, as separate from headings or titles which are flush left and un-bulleted/boxed. It aids my workflow to see things laid out like that visually. A moot point to some, but significant for me nonetheless.
On that note, I really miss the checkboxes on the iOS apps compared to the web app. The checkboxes help me, at a glance, to distinguish between a list of tasks far better than a thin grey line. I really wish we could have checkboxes, or even bullets, next to the tasks in the iOS apps. Again, it's a matter of flow for me, and the more obvious visual prompts really help me differentiate between tasks far more quickly and easily.
