Local links in tasks
Hi,
I know I can insert a hyperlink into a task which is helpful. Is it possible to link (shortcut) to a file on my computer/server? I gave it a go and it didn't seem to work... hopefully I'm just missing something.
Regards,
M

Hello Marcus,
you can insert hyperlinks into tasks using this format:
This is a "link to Google":(google.com)
In this example, the text in the quote marks would be linked to http://google.com
Note - the link does not have to be at the end of the task name, for example:
Another "link":(google.com) to Google
would also work linking the URL in brackets to the word "link".
Best regards,
David

Hi David,
I think you've missed the whole point of my question. I've stated that I can insert a hyperlink, ie to a website, which is what you have shown me.
What I want to do is link to a file on my PC not the internet! ie c:\my doc\file.doc
Regards,
Marc

Hello Marcus,
sorry for the misunderstanding. Unfortunately, it's not possible to add links to files on your computer unless you upload them either on your webhost or using a public file sharing service.
If your computer runs as a FTP server, though, you could add direct FTP links using the same format as mentioned above only replacing a http link with:
ftp://username:password@host.com/
Best regards,
David

That's disapointing... even Excel/Word etc allow you to do that...
Any chance you can add it in the future?

I'd appreciate this option as well (link to local file)
