<Enter> does not append a new task below the current one
when I am editing a task, and hit <enter> is it not supposed to append a new task below the task being edited.
when I hit <enter> it exits the task, but brings me back to the list of task
when I hit <Shift><Enter> it appends a new task

Hello Sean,
That's correct, editing a task and confirming the changes with Enter will not open another task input box below. To do so, you must use Shift+Enter.
If you're adding a new task then you can just use Enter to open a new input box below or Ctrl+Enter to open a new input box above.
Best regards,
David
