Thunderbird messages not opening
When I click on a link to a message created from the Thunderbird plugin it does not open the message, and the Todoist window goes to the start screen (Today view).

please clarify - are you trying to open these links from within the Thunderbird plugin?
If so, please try to open a different message (not from Todoist) and then click on the link to a different message in the Todoist plugin.
If not then unfortunately these messages cannot be accessed directly through Todoist without using the Thunderbird plugin.

I have tried clicking on the links from both places.
I have tried to follow your instructions for working within the Thunderbird plugin, and I am still having the same issue. The message doesn't open and the Todoist window goes to the Today screen.
I've been able to partially reproduce this issue (the message opened, but the view has changed) and have forwarded it to the developers.

For now, please try to open multiple messages or ad a new one as a task and then click on the link from within a projects.
I too have encountered this issue. I reproduced by:
1. Selecting an empty folder ("Drafts" in my case)
2. Closing Thunderbird
3. Re-opening. Thunderbird preserved the view and opened up the empty Drafts folder.
4. Open Todoist plugin using alt+q.
5. Click an email link in Todoist. Nothing happens.
If I then go to a specific view (in my case I clicked on a project to view only that project's tasks) and then click on an email link, then I am returned to the start page view.
The workaround, as you say, is to select a folder that contains some emails (e.g. your inbox) and select an email. After that the email links in the Todoist plugin start working again.

Unfortunately, I am still having the same issue and the workaround does not work for me.
