can you make a task recurring annually? i.e. "every year starting April 1"

It is good that there is a way to do that but it is not so good if people have to remember it or look at the docs (which is not linked from your mobile app btw so very hard to find since http://todoist.com always go back to the app not your site) or the support site like I just did.
Especially for a natural language date system you have to support all formats that people will use intuitively or you need a easy way for users to bring help. Why doesn't the API return a error message with a self help that apps could display?
A very important characteristic of a user friendly system is good error reporting that help users to train themselves on how to do things properly when they make mistake.
Right now you do not support everything that intuitively we use and provide no help. When I use the iPad app I sometimes get stuck.
Obviously I would rather have a system that understand me so you should support all instances of a pattern like 'every xxx' where can be day, week, month, year or n days, weeks, moths, years. Why stop at weeks?
Also don't force people to enter 'from <date>'. Just assume from today.
thank you very much for your feedback, we appreciate it and will certainly consider adding more intuitive date formats and better error reporting.
As for the "from <date>" issue - you never have to add this and Todoist will always start counting from today, unless you want the task to start in the past or in the future.
I agree. If you look at the recurring date help you see:
"after 3 months starting 10 April"
as an example. But I tried to type "every year starting sunday" and it rejected it. So you need to fix the help file, or fix the syntax to mimic the help file (preferably).
Thank you for your feedback, we will consider adding new syntax. Please note that the help file never suggests "every year" as the correct syntax, it mentions "every 3 months" as an example and you can scale this formula to "every 12 months" for an annual task.
