Daily recurring tasks not working as expected

JN

I use Todoist across three platforms: Mac, iOS and Windows.

I have daily recurring tasks (4 of) and as I am overloaded they are usually overdue. (hence investing in Todoist).

When I check them off, I would expect to have them appear on the next day they were not completed. However, they seem to appear on tomorrow's list? How do I set up that something needs to happen on everyday, and if I have not done it three days ago I certainly haven't done the work for yesterday.

Thanks,
Joanna

Hello Joanna,

That's unfortunately not possible. Every overdue task will go to the next date counting from the day when you check it off. So if you complete an "every day" task today, then regardless of how many days it's overdue, you won't need to click through these days to catch up, but it will automatically go to the next occurrence, in this case - tomorrow.

That said, please either complete such tasks once you've completed all outstanding overdue occurrences or, instead of checking it off, right-click on it and choose "Today", then complete it once you also finish today's instance.

Regards,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for explaining. I guess that approach works for daily tasks that
can be only be done in the future (I can't go back in time and send an
email for example). I was using it for effort based tasks, so Sunday's
tasks still need to be done even if it's Tuesday. I don't necessarily
have the time to catch up on Sunday and Monday tasks at the same time so
I'm trying to keep track of what I've done and what I haven't. I'll find
a different WoW.
