Time Zones don't work

M

Adding a task with a time of '29 Sep @ 6pm', '29 Sep @ 6pm GMT' and '29 Sep @ 6pm EST' while current time zone is GMT all produce a task at exactly the same time, when they clearly should be different times. How can I specify a particular time zone for a task time?

Hello Matthew,

Unfortunately, it's not possible to set a time zone for a task. You can set the time one of your account in the Settings and it should always be set to the zone you're currently in to avoid any issues, but you can't set the time zone for one task.

If you travel to a different time zone, Todoist will ask you if you want to adjust the settings and once you do, all due dates will be still correct for the new time zone.

Well, when will it be possible? The time zone which I am currently in is not relevant to this (although that part does work correctly). But it should be possible to specify a time by time zone - especially as the time entry accepts it without error. The behaviour of the set times becoming the same local time in a different time zone (as you mention) is also NOT correct behaviour for this case when moving between time zones - the times of some tasks (such as these) should stay constant when seen in UTC, not constant when seen in the local time zone. This makes it very tricky to schedule tasks relating to events happening in different countries simultaneously.

Are there any plans to add support for time zones so that this can be done? As Todoist seems to aim itself for business as well as personal use this seems to me to be an absolutely essential feature (certainly I'm missing it just doing the personal scheduling for a trip I'm going on).

Matthew

Unfortunately, I can't give you an estimate when such feature will be implemented, but we'll look into this in the future.

Fair enough. Thanks anyway for the help, so far Todoist has overall been very good and I look forward to it becoming more complete in the future.
