Sync issues

HM

Hi there,

Been having a pretty annoying problem recently – the OSX app seems to stop synchronising after a period of use. Unfortunately I don't know what is precipitating it, as I only find out it's happened when I open the productivity drop-down and the number it gives couldn't feasibly be the true number of completed tasks.

When I then look at the web platform I realise that all the changes I've made for the past hour or so haven't registered anywhere.

Tasks added via the web platform then don't appear in the OSX app.

Quitting the OSX app, then re-starting revives the sync function. The changes are preserved, as if the app has gone into offline mode, however the offline mode symbol doesn't appear at any point in the process!

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help,
Henry

Hi Henry,

There could be a few reasons, such as being offline at any point? Though there are a few issues such as this that we have fixed and will be in our next update, sometime the coming week.

Sorry for the trouble.

Brendon

Hi Brendon,

Thanks very much for your speedy reply!

It is possible that my internet connection was dropped at some point without me noticing (using very un-fibre-optic countryside broadband), but I thought forcing a sync would sort that? Any way, I'll keep my eyes open for the update.

Thanks,

Henry

Hi there.

Just started with ToDoist and unfortunately, mine's not syncing at all. Entered a list of todos in the Mac OS X desktop app, check the iOS and web versions, and none of the items that are in the Mac OS app appear in the web or iOS versions of my todo lists. Checked and they're all logged in with the same Gmail account. Tried logging out, then in again, tried exiting the application and then opening it again. Tried putting a task in one of the web todo lists and it appears in the iOS version, but not in the desktop version. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

em

Hi again.

Ok, I've worked it out. Reading another post, I see that it uses Safari's cache, and therefore the gmail account that the user is currently logged in as within Safari. There's no way to tell or find out from within any of the Todoist application, or webpage, or extension, which Google account Todoist is using to log in with. If I'm using Chrome as my default browser, and I'm logged in with one account, using the Chrome extension, and in Safari I'm logged in as another Google user account, the web and iOS Todoist lists using one account, willnever sync with the desktop application, which is using Safari's log in details. Can I suggest that if you're going to use a Google account to log the user in, that you, somewhere in the application, show the account, or allow the user to choose which Google account to use when they go to log in? Lot's of people use multiple Google accounts for different reasons and may sometimes prefer them to Safari on the Mac. Simply showing the account name from somewhere within the settings windows, would have saved me quite a deal of confusion and frustration.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can change the account, in the settings page for Todoist, under Account, you can deactivate and re-active Google accounts.

That being said, we will consider adding a way to associate with more than one account which I'd assume would fix most of the issues.

Hi Brendon,

Thanks for your response. As I (very poorly ^_^ ) tried to explain, I know you can deactivate and reactivate accounts. I think that just allowing the application to indicate which Google account is being used would have made a difference to my problem. Being able to choose which one to use would be a huge help too, but simply not knowing which account was what got me in trouble here.
