Todoist Windows client NOT WORKING

NK

Trying to start Windows client and getting a blank screen, with Todoist logo and a loading dots that runs indefinitely with no data or errors coming.

Tried killing the process and re-launching again.

Tried logging out (via IE browser as the underlying rendering engine is shared) to no avail.

Tried re-installing the app by getting the latest...

The app appears to work fine in the browser (tested both in IE and Chrome).

Thank you,
NK

Hello Nick,

The rendering engine for our Windows app is Chromium (we've ported it away from IE last year) :-)

Please try to go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Todoist\Windows and delete the "Cache" fonder here, then, relauch the app and see if it helps.

Regards,
David

David,

Thanks a lot! It worked! But it would have been nice not to do a trip to the cache folder :)

Cheers,
NK

David,

I've got the same problem. I just downloaded the latest release from your website. I've tried deleting the Cache, disabling the firewall and anti-virus, etc.

Any other tips? It seems like this is not a new issue with the windows client.

Thanks!

Hi,

We are looking into it, but its an issue that can not be 100% reproduced, it seems to be random per user. That being said, do you have the Outlook extension installed as well?

Hi Brendon,

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't have the outlook extension
installed. In fact, I don't even have outlook installed.

Let me know what else I can send you to help you troubleshoot.

Thanks,

Hi,

Try un-installing it from Add/Remove Programs, follow the clearing of the cache, as well as search for Todoist & Doist in Windows Explorer, remove all.

Then reboot computer, re-download, re-install using Run As Admin. Any difference.

Thanks Brendon,

I tried all of those steps and it did not fix the problem.

I also tried unchecking the "Use Hardware Acceleration" option in Google
Chrome. This helped other app's but did not help Todoist.

Any other tips?

Hi,

Do you have AMD graphics and Intel CPU? There is issues with these causing problems for our app.

Yes, I do!

I've got the AMD Firepro M4100 FireGL V, and an Intel graphics chip as
well.

Hi,

We are looking into what is causing it, I believe someone found a setting in the AMD control panel that fixes it, but I do not recall what. We hope we can find a better solution soon.

Brendon,

Thanks for your help with this.

I found that in the AMD settings, if I told it to use the Intel GPU and not
the AMD GPU, it worked just fine.

The wording in the AMD control center is a little weird, under Power /
Switchable Graphics Application Settings, you set todoist.exe to "Power
Saving".

Thanks again,
