Gmail Add Task change affecting labeling

EC

In the last week, I noticed that the Add Task add-in for Gmail changed the way that it store the task in ToDoist. The title of the task now includes an HTML link in the title. While I don't really like that (I preferred when I could just click on the hyperlinked title), my biggest issue with this is that my labels are now getting embedded in a weird way.

Some of the labels are within the parenthesized task title which make them unusable Filters. I have to manually move them out of the parenthesized task title in order for the filters to be able to use them. Since most of my tasks come through through the Gmail Add-in, this is extraordinarily frustrating and time-consuming.

I've attached an image, so you can see that some of the labels are embedded with the title and some of are not.

Thank you!

Hi Erin,

We have reported this to our developer already. Once a fix is available, we will let know. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I think this is the same issue: When I add a label to a task that was created from an email, it keeps adding a close parenthesis to the label and changes the task name to include the gmail url. I now have 2 labels, one with the parenthesis and one without. The gmail extension and labels are currently unusable, so please fix asap. Thanks!

Nick...It is definitely the same issue. I've been having to manually go in and move the labels outside of the parentheses in order to get the task to work correctly. Then, I have to remove the offending "new" label....which just gets recreated the next time I add a new task from Gmail. (sigh)

I see that Alex says it is working for him. Unfortunately, that is not my experience. I've tried disabling and reloading the extensions, and the same issue is occurring. Here is a screenshot as of two minutes ago. Thanks!

Hello Erin,

The reinstalling of the extension wouldn't make any difference, it shares the cache of the browser. That said, please go to Chrome's Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, find and delete all todoist.com entries on this list, reload Chrome, log back in and see if it works. That is - if you add a new email-linked task with a label, will it break?

David

Thank you. That resolved the issue.
Things seem to be working, now.

I'm still experiencing the issue - do I need to reinstall the gmail connection?

Thanks,

Tanya

Hi,

Did you follow David's steps above? Clearing cache is all that would be needed.

I'm using firefox, cleared the cache and cookies, restarted firefox, restarted todoist, and am still having the same problem. Is there something else I need to do?

Thanks,

Tanya

Hi,

No, it should be working now, and those are the steps. It would appear no one else is having the issue anymore.

I suppose a re-install would not harm anything at this time.

Brendon

Still not working...could it be that it's working on chrome but not firefox?

Hi Tanya,

I just tried it in Firefox version 31 and it's working fine. Which version are you currently running?

I am using Chrome with the Gmail extension and for the most part it is was fixed a couple of days ago., However I just tried removing a label and adding a new one on an existing task, and it got messed up again (added the close parenthesis to the label name and added the URL to the task name). I restarted etc so I am using the latest Gmail extension. Please do some more testing on this with more scenarios, there is still a bug, but I haven't yet figured out the exact circumstances to make it happen.

Hello Nick,

I have now removed, changed, added, switched dozens of labels in multiple tasks and it works correctly.

Please go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, find and remove all todoist.com entries on this list, reload Chrome and see if the issue persists.

David

Hello Clyde,

I'm using firefox version 31. I tried reinstalling the add-on with no improvement. I'm not sure what has changed but it's definitely not working as it was a week ago.

Thanks,

Tanya

Hi David,

Would you give the same detailed instructions (as you've given for chrome) for the process to fix the problem in firefox version 31 on a mac?

Thanks,

Tanya

Tanya,

Please go to Firefox's Options -> Advanced -> Network and here:

1. Clear the cache (in general).

2. Remove todoist.com from the list of sites storing offline data (at the bottom).

Then reload Firefox.

David

Hi David,

That did the trick - thank you so much! I didn't realize how much I depended on this feature until it wasn't working properly! (+1)
