Outlook all in Bold text

I

Started Outlook today and todoist bar now shows all text in Bold, can this be changed back to normal font weight?

I have closed todoist, closed outlook, downloaded the latest plugin and installed, and restarted the PC. Outlook 2007, window 7 (64bit). Opening todoist in the web window still shows the text as normal weight.

Having all the text in a bold weight is rather jarring on the eye. Please advise.

Thanks Ian

Hello Ian,

We're unsure how something like that can happen. Out Outlook plugin is basically a browser frame based on Chromium which connects directly into the todoist.com site. Please tell me, are you using any other plugins in Outlook that may affect font formatting or any other software for modifying font styles?

David

I have not added anything to Outlook and so nothing changed.

Aside from Outlook add-ins, there are Kaspersky spam from KIS, One Note and Adobe PDF as plugins.

I disable all plugins, including the Outlook default one and restarted, it made no difference we are still bold on the todoist panel. So I cannot see anything would be altering the font styles.

Hi David

Thank for your help.

Attached is a screengrab of Outlook.

I have re-enabled add-ins now, as you will see, and re-started the PC again.

Ian,

Thank you for the screenshot, I'll pass it to our developers. That's indeed strange. Please note that our plugin uses a Chrome engine. Do you have any software that may affect Chrome's font display specifically (maybe a Chrome plugin)?

I have Chrome browser installed (we are web developers) however it is pretty much vanilla install, expect for KIS and Adobe Acrobat (Latest CC version).

I have checked the browser and for web content font it is set to medium and only standard fonts are loaded, no custom fonts. There is no chrome plugin on Outlook.

If there is anything else I can check please let me know. It is indeed strange, thanks for the help.

Ian

Hi David

I found the solution to my issue with the Bold text in Outlook.

Your note about the Chrome engine gave me the detail to go hunting, it was a conflict with Adobe Creative Cloud font sync on Opens Sans. Removing the sync link with Open Sans solved the issue once I restarted Outlook.

Steps:
1. Open Creative Cloud panel and go to Assets > Fonts (Alternatively go to your fonts sync with Typekit.
2. Remove the sync with Open Sans font.
3. Close Panel
4. Close and reopen Outlook

I assume if you download open sans from Google it may give the same issue but cannot confirm, it may be fine if you issue locally!

With the sync in place it effects all website in Chrome that use open sans font. It can also show itself as italic text as well as bold.

The problem was created when I received a photoshop file from a designer to be included in website, it needed modifying so I needed to open and change text, hence the sync. I then notice that a website we were working on with open sans had been given the bold effect, so the connection was made.

Anyway all solved and thank you for all your support. I hope the above helps someone else.

Thank you for a great app, really useful for us and does a super job.

Regards
Ian

Ian,

Thank you very much for these details :-) Given that it can indeed be very helpful to others, I've made this thread public again and have deleted the attachment you've posted earlier which was showing your screenshot.
