Scheduling

L

This has begun occurring recently. When I want to add a new task or to do and click the calendar to add a date either a specific day or series of dates it simply adds that task to Today.
I have to then go to edit and choose the date again.

Also about scheduling, if I want a task to occur on a regular basis what is the procedure for that and where do I do it?

Thank you.

Hi Louis,

Does this happen once the task is saved, its shown on Today, or when you select the date, it just shows Today, before the task is saved?

Brendon.

It happens when I click Done.

If I'm going to renew Todoist rather than look for something else I need it
to work without a hassle.
What you sent makes no sense to me and is not a fix.

Once again, every time I input a date it enters it into Today so I have to
schedule it again. It happens when I click DONE.
I also asked about specific time periods, such as every Tuesday and Thursday
or every weekday?

Could I please get answers and solutions?

Louis

Hello Louis,

You can set recurring tasks by typing the recurrence pattern as if you would dictate it to someone so you can use natural language such as "every Sunday", "every weekday", "every Mon, Tue", "every 2 days at 2pm" - all these will work if you enter them into the date field. Please refer to this page to see other supported date formats and also some shortcuts: https://todoist.com/Help/DatesTimes

As for the issue you're experiencing - I can't reproduce it. I enter a project, tap on the + sign to add a task, enter a name, tap on the calendar, choose any date from the date picker, tap on "Done" at the top and the task gets added with the correct due date I've selected.

If you're doing anything different than what I've mentioned above, any additional steps or a different order or tap something else, please let us know and we'll try to reproduce it based on the exact steps you tell us.

Best regards,
David

What I'm doing is choosing a date from the scrolling calendar.
Deciding on a Priority and clicking Done.
This is how I've always done it.

Hi Louis,

I was able to reproduce the problem and I already reported it to our iOS developers. We'll let you know once a fix is available. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I'll look forward to the fix.
Meanwhile, how do I get to where you can input like every Tuesday and
Thursday, every weekday, etc.
Thanks.

Hi Louis,

The due date field is also a text field. Just tap the due date field and delete the current entry and type in the recurring dates as you'd normally would.

Okay I found a way to reproduce it. It only happens if you select a priority AFTER selecting the date. It doesn't matter how you select the date, but if you hit the "Tomorrow" blue link, and then you pick your priority (other than the level 4, no priority), you'll see it revert back to the current date. When you use the scrolling picker, you won't see it change and it'll still say "Tomorrow", but I'm assuming the field below that picker reverts back to the current date.

So basically, all else is equal - Just create a new task, assign it a due date using either the links below the field, or through the date picker, and then change the priority to something other than the lowest level (so light-blue, blue, or red) and then hit done.

The workaround is to create your new task, assign the priority FIRST, and then choose the date.

I hope this helps, and I hope this can get fixed soon cuz it has definitely caught me off guard a few times and messed up when something important should be due.

Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nicholas,

This should be fixed in the next version of the iOS app. Please update to it as soon as it's available.

That spam above reminded me to re-visit this thread...

I still haven't seen an update for this app on the App Store. The last update was Jul 8, 2014, and the issue with scheduling and priority hasn't been fixed. The issue was first reported back on Jul 23. We're coming up on 2 months now for this one.

Is there still an update coming? If so, when specifically? My premium subscription is up for renewal next month, and I'm not seeing the value in continuing, after the bugs and slow response I've seen over the past year.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello Nick,

Ever since the first reports, we've started to rebuild pretty much the whole syncing process and related processes to make it more robust and reliable. We've finally finished last week and the app is currently under Apple's approval. That said, we can't specify when exactly it will be approved, if nothing goes wrong, it should take them up to a week, but if it gets rejected for some reason, then another week would have to be added from the time we re-submit it.

David
