Please tap on the date field, select or type the date and then use the "Done" text link in the top-right corner to save the changes. Let me know if this still doesn't save the date.
There is no "done" text link that I can see...at least on the iPad.

Please attach a screenshot so that we can see. As there should indeed be a button to accept it.
I would like to cancel my premium membership. I think I need to wait until some of the bugs are worked out.

We're sorry to hear that. We would love to fix this issue, though so far we can't reproduce this and were hoping to see your screenshot showing on what screen do you not see the "Done" option :-(
