Problem with SMS... but

Hi,

If I add a reminder (SMS) through the Internet Todoist site... it works
If I add a reminder (SMS) through Windows 7 application... it works
If I add a reminder (SMS) through my iPhone or iPad... IT DOES NOT WORK

When you add a task in Windows (for example) with a reminder (SMS) at a certain time. The task is transferred to Internet todoist and you can see your task with a litlle clock icon saying that you have a time reminder... and it works.

When you add a task in the Internet site with a reminder.. it is transferred to Windows application and you see your task with the little clock icon... and it works.

But if you add a task in your iPhone or iPad with a reminder.. you see you clock icon on the iPhone or iPad... but the task is transferred to the Interne tor Windows with NO CLOCK ICON.. and the reminder (at a specific time) does not work !!!

PS If you add the task with reminder on iPhone, you see the clock icon on your iPhone, but NOT on the iPad after it is transferred. And vice et versa. If you add a task on the iPad with a reminder, you see the clock on the IPad but not on the iPhone after it is transferred.

You think the "provider" is the cause of the problem with iPhone and iPad ???
SMS provider or something else provider ??
Cause it works fine with Internet and Windows !!

We are not having any luck in finding the cause. Though this started once we switched providers. So without having any luck, its better to go back to our previous provider until we can figure it out.

At least that I what we are planning on doing at the moment.

Sorry for being a pain... It's an old habit of working in a help desk data center for 30 years !!!

That does not make sense to me.
Tell me something. first of all, what ever task we enter in iPhone or iPad or Windows.. the task is transferred to your server on the net somewhere... and from there the message is sent from your server to the provider... which sends the sms back to us.

So if it is the way it is working... message sent to the provider from you server is working fine. Cause when we enter something in windows or directly on the internet... it is working.

what's not working, is the sync between the iPhone and iPad and your server... it does not sync or transfert the reminder from the iPhone or iPad to your server. How can it send an SMS if the server never receives the reminder from the iPHone or iPad ?? I would check your routine that transfert the data between iPhone or iPad to your server... the taslk is transfert but the reminder is NOT transfert to your server !!!

I do not think it's got something to do with the provider !!!

You added a new option in your reminder "on location"... maybe while you add this option, something else where screewed up !!

Cause the problem happened after you added this option.

That was just my thinking !!!

Yes you are correct in that could be the cause, but not everyone is able to add these reminders through the web version as you. It would seem to be the odd one out. Though we are taking your reasoning into consideration as well of course.

I have the same problem and cannot work with Todoist if its not possible to set reimender in the iPhone app. Do you see any solution coming? Thanks for your help.

Hi Chris,

When you do a test SMS reminder, do you get the message? If you do and you're still not getting actual reminders, please try testing all four country/server options in the settings and check if one of those works for your setup. Let us know how it went.

Hi Clyde,

thanks for the quick reply. The test SMS reminder works. The SMS reminder set through the internet Todoist site or the Todoist iphone app does not work. And the reminder set through the app is not synced to the Todoist internet site but the other way around works. The tasks are synced but not the reminders.

The email reminder set through the internet site works most of the time, but if its set through the app it doesnt sync and I dont receive any mail.
The SMS reminder doesnt work at all. :(

Hello Chris,

Please clarify - did you test regular reminders through each of the countries (outgoing servers) in the settings and none of them works? Or did you use the test message with all countries, but only tested actual reminders with one country?

Hi David, I dont understand what you mean.
1. problem: Email or SMS reminder set through the iPhone App doesnt work and doesnt sync.
2. problem: SMS reminder set through the internet site doesnt work with every country i choose.
Hope it helps. I think I am not the only one who has this problem!

Chris,

Are you using your phone in English (and have local settings also set to UK or US)? If not, then this explains the first problem as we're working on fixing a bug that makes all reminders set in any other language than English not work via iOS.

As for the second problem - we'll look into this.

i do use my phone in German. Changing it to UK settings the email reminder works. Hope you guys fix it soon!

The fix has been pushed, and you should see it start working shortly. Logging out and back in again may be required.

reminders still dont work. I do use my phone in German and local settings German. Please fix! I do pay for the app to work properly.

Hi Chris,

Can you a test if SMS works if you change your language settings to english? We had other users reporting that it's now working for them. It's also a good idea to log out and log back in again just to be sure that the fix has fully taken effect. If it works in english, please try one more time testing it in German to see if it works or not.

You have pushed a new apps for my iPHone ?
If it is the case, I will wait for the new apps !!

If not, It still does not work. The Task added on my iPHone with sms alarm, does not work.
I have the french version. Even if I change my settings for english in the Web or Windows... that does not work. And you know that there is no way we can change french to english on iPHone unless you reload your iPhone completly !!!

so... the sms "date and time" does not work on for my iPHone. It does work for SMS on location... but not on date and time !!

Hi Danny,

Brendon is referring to the fix that we made in the server to address the SMS problem. There's no need to update the iPhone apps. Can you please do the following?

1. Log-out and log back in again in the web and the iPhone app
2. Try creating an SMS reminder in the web and in the iPhone app

Do you still get the same problem? We have had some success with other users where their SMS problem has been resolved due to the fix that was pushed. If you tried the steps above and it still doesn't work, can you please let me know the language you've selected for the app.

Hi,

Yes i did logged out and in on the web, windows and iphone.
If I send an SMS on windows or the web, it works.
It does not work when I try on my iphone or ipad.
My iphone, my ipad, the web and windows are in "francais"
I even tried to change my windows and web to english without any success.

Hi Clyde,

SMS works if I set the reminder through the web and through the ios app if the iphone language and region settings are English/UK.
But it doesnt work if the iphone language is back to German.

Hi Dany,

It looks like what you're experiencing is bug on the iOS app where non-english reminders are not working. Just to clarify, we did have some issues with SMS and a fix in the server has addressed that.

I've added you to the list of users affected by this and as soon as we have a fix ready for it, we'll let you know through this thread.
