Completed tasks do not go away

CM

I am primarily using the web platform with Chrome - although the behavior is the same in Chrome, Firefox and IOS.

Most of my completed tasks always seem to stay - greyed out with a line through them. I understand that subtasks should have this behavior, but I was under the impression that complete tasks within a project / subproject should be "hidden" when complete.

There are additional completed tasks that show when I click the show completed tasks button.

This was becoming cumbersome - as new tasks added to a project tend to be sorted toward the bottom.

Where this was most cumbersome was in a particular sub-project. With 20-30 completed tasks that take up the primary view. I moved this sub-project out to the project level - and the behavior cleared up in all of the other projects.

The completed tasks are still showing in this project though.

Hi Chris,

Please clarify, are you saying this are not sub-tasks? Can you show a screenshot of the issue you are referring too? If they are not sub-tasks, then it would appear to be an issue but I need to see to confirm.

Regards,
Brendon.

They are not sub tasks.

They were originally in a sub-project.

The behavior existed in all of my projects.

When I moved the sub-project out to the root level - it fixed the behavior in all of the other projects.

I've attached a screenshot of the Project, and the tasks within. I've also included the bottom of the list - it has the "show completed" button. If I press the button - additional completed tasks show up.

Thanks

Chris,

I'd suggest signing out of your account, and then clearing the cache and offline data for the browser. Let me know if it still happens after doing so.

As for new tasks on the bottom, this is correct behaviour and we will look into allow this to be changed in the future.

Regards,
Brendon.

Thanks Brendon,

I will try the log-out / cache / log- in with Chrome, although the problem persisted across browsers when I was testing with browsers that had NEVER logged into the account before.

I logged out of Todoist in Chrome and Firefox.

I cleared absolutely everything in Firefox (browser I use for testing more than everyday)

Logged back in, still have all the completed tasks showing.

Thanks,

Chris,

I simply can not reproduce this issue nor have we ever had any reports of this. We did some changes recently that could have caused this, but everything seems fine now. Clearing cache and logging out should resolve any of those problems.

Do you have any other Todoist accounts to test with, or maybe create a new one for testing? Does it occur in that as well?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hello Brendon,
I only have the one account.

I'm going to recreate a new project, leaving the old one with the completed tasks that don't go away.

I don't know if this adds to the knowledge - if I "move to another project" one of the tasks that is complete, but still showing - it remains still showing (and complete) in the new project. That would indicate to me there is something not quite right with the tasks.

Thanks for your time,
---Chris

Chris,

You shouldn't even be able to move completed task at all, you'd need to un-complete them first to be able to do so.

Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

It may not be designed to - but it lets me.

Attached the menu being available on a completed task, and the resulting completed task in the new project.

Thanks,
---Chris

Hello Chris,

Please tell me, did you ever use Todoist through any mobile app, plugin, third-party mobile app, used our API or someone else's custom Todoist app based on our API?

Best regards,
David

Hello David,

I use it on IOS.

Never any third party apps.

I am not concerned about this issue; since everything created new seems to be working as expected. I was just providing feedback.

Thanks,
