Sharing tasks with direct reports

TN

Hi

According to GTD, tasks are assigned to people via contexts (@) as in labels in the case of ToDoist. Sharing or assigning labels isn't possible therefore we look at projects.

The options in Todoist then are either:-

1/ Assign your direct reports tasks by have a project folder with their name
and/or
2/ Assign them individual tasks via a project

Is this right?

Hi Terry,

You can assign a task by selecting a user or email address. When a project is shared (Right click, Share) each task has a menu item for Assigned To. This is how they get assigned.

You could also use Labels on each task if you'd like.

Brendon.

This is a shortcoming, but it also exists in ToodleDo. My subordinates will be working on multiple projects and BAU work - I want to share their tasks but I don't want to share all projects. <frown>

Perhaps I should reverse the GTD recommendation? Assign all of my subordinates their tasks via a project folder in their name and use the labels as the projects and work streams?

I don't know why so many tools claim to be in line with GTD but they're not....

Terry,

Yes sharing a project is needed to assign one task. We will look into improving this in the future.

You are correct as well in that you could have projects per subordinates and use labels to further organize.

Brendon.

OK, I take improving to mean you're not going to permit the sharing of labels (i.e. contexts) so I'll reverse the methodology to see if it can work for me.
