Reminders Sync problem

P

Since this morning I have a premium account for Todoist. The main reason for me to upgrade to premium is the option to activate reminders. But when I set reminders it doesn't sync with my other devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone or browser) and it doesn't give me any mobile notification.

I hope this is a temperaly reminder-sync problem.

Hi,

Which type of reminder are you trying to use, PUSH, SMS or Email? If you go into your Todoist settings on iOS, there is an area there to turn them on and off, please make sure they are turned on.

Also, If you head to the web version, top right gear icon, Todoist Settings, Reminders. Do you see your device listed there, do the test notifications work?

What is the syntax used for a reminder that does not work? What did you type exactly for the due date?

Regards,
Brendon.

I try to use Push I also tried the test notifications option. This worked fine. But it still does not work in the app itself. I checked the notifications in iOS and in the app.

Hi,

Please clarify,

- The test notifications work?
- What did you enter for the date box, or reminder menu? "today at 2pm" for example?

Regards.
Brendon.

Problem is solved. On my iOS device I was not specifiek in setting the due date in Schedule. I only entered the day in the Schedule box (Today) and after that I went to set the reminder menu and entered the time (today @ 17:00). But returning to the task I could not see any due date, only the Little reminder clock and today. No @ 17:00 was visible. Now I first enter the day and due time in the Schedule box and after that I set the reminder and it just works fine.

In other to-do apps I was used to only set the reminder.

Hello Martijn,

Please describe step-by-step how are you setting a task's date and reminder so we can reproduce this.

For example - you add a new task, set it's date to "28 Jul 2014 @ 22:00", it gets the "30 minutes before" default reminder and at this point you see the task with the date and time on the web, but if you right-click on it and go to "Reminders", then on the web the reminder is not there?

David

Ps2 if the reminder is set in the web app or on my Windows Pc app it works. If the reminder is set on either ipad or iphone it does not work as the reminder does is not synced. So it seems that reminders are not uploaded to the Todoist cloud from any ios mobile device

Hi
On either my iPhone or iPad i select or create a task, select The reminder and use The date / Time selector to set The reminder date and time.

After finishing this The reminder icon appears on only The device where The reminder was set, but not on The other device nor in The web app, i.e. it is not synced.

It doesn't matter if I use the date / time selector or I type date And time manually.

On none of The devices, neither in The webapp nor on my Windows pc and even not in The device where The reminder was set, a notification appears.

Ad said before, when reminder is Made in Windows or web, it works fine.

Bye

Martijn,

Thank you for this information. So, just to clarify - when you select this date, you see an English date formatted like this:

29 Jul 2014 @ 15:00

or are you using our app in any other language than English (in which case - we're aware of such issue and are working on it now, it affects all non-English languages)?

When can I expect a solution?

A task manager without proper working reminders is like a car without an engine....

Hi Martijn. I'm also Dutch. When I posted this subject a couple of weeks ago I thought I was the only one having the reminders problem. I first entered the reminder on my iPad but it did not sync in my iPhone. After setting the task with a specific date and time and after that setting the reminder it seemed to work fine (and it still does) But now I understand that the reminder should work by its own when setting it in English. First 'planning' after that 'herinnering' works fine.

Martijn,

The app uses the phone's language settings for the app's UI and the phone's local settings for handling dates.

That said, if you'd go to your local settings and only change the local date settings to UK or US, that should do it and you could keep the phone in Dutch.

Martijn,

Please go to your phone's Settings -> General -> International and here you'll see a few options - the one at the top will change the language on your phone - don't change that. Below you'll find the "regional settings" which will most likely be set to Netherlands - change them to United Kingdom.

Martijn,

That's strange, please try to set the phone's language also to English and see if that helps.

Found a solution :

Instead of using The automatically generated Dutch word "vandaag", which means Today in English, i overwrite it With "Today"

Then it works!!

Meaning that not the date / time format causes The problem but The language causes, especially The words tomorrow and today etc, The problem
