Bug: Repeated checking off of recurring tasks with sub-tasks

L

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has encountered the same problem. I've noticed that my daily recurring tasks sometimes gets checked off multiple times when it has a sub-task involved.

For example, I have a task that recurs every morning. This task has a number of sub-tasks to replicate a mini-checklist (see maintask.png). Sometimes I check off today's iteration and it goes to the next day, perfect! But increasingly I'm facing a situation where it would check off for multiple days in a row (see Repeating.png). Needless to say this is annoying since I'll have to manually reset the start date.

I've tested this with other similar recurring tasks and have managed to confirm the following thus far:

1. This is platform independent; it happens regardless of whether I completed the task on my Android phone or on my windows client.
2. The problem does not occur all the time, only occasionally.
3. The number of "multiple checks" is equal to the number of sub-tasks + 1. So for the example, I have 1 main task and 6 sub-task, given it a total of 7 completed main tasks for the day.
4. This problem is not isolated to just the example task I provided. It applies to all the recurring tasks that have sub-tasks under it.

~~~
Hope this is enough information for the development team to start investigating. Would appreciate if this minor bug can be fixed; I'd hate to jump back to my previous task manager (since Todoist is so awesome) but I will do it if this continues un-addressed and my patience is tested.
Hi,
Please clarify, are you checking off each sub-task, then checking off the parent task, or are you just checking off the parent task? Are the sub-tasks always the same level of indentation?
Regards,
Brendon.
Hi,
I'm only checking off the parent tasks. The sub tasks are left untouched. The level of indentation doesn't seem to matter, since the problem occurs regardless of whether the sub tasks are of the same indentation or different.
Hello,
This sounds exactly as a bug which was reported a few months ago and fixed ever since. That said, please make sure that you haven't bookmarked an URL to Todoist that contains anything else than just https://todoist.com especially an old version number.
Also, log out and back into your account on any platforms, make sure all platforms use the most recent version of the Todoist app.
So far, I can't reproduce this and the most crucial information we'd need to fix this is in fact a way to reliably reproduce this every time under certain circumstances.
Please let us know if you can notice any pattern to it, if it happens only under the same circumstance and also clarify what's the exact due date of the parent task (is it "every day @ 7:00am" or did you type it in any other format?
Best regards,
David
Hi,
It seems like this issue occurs only on Todoist Android. I have logged in and out on the application but the problem still persists. It's problem-free on the browser and Windows app. About the only format that has no such problem is "after". Every possible instance of "every" faces the same problem.
I am using the latest version of Todoist on Google Play and a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android 4.4.
Hope this information helps.
Regards,
Lionel
Lionel,
Please join our Todoist Beta community on Google+ at https://plus.google.com/communities/108057919781399570441 and let us know if the issue persists in the latest beta build. We will soon release this build to the PlayStore so if you don't like to get beta updates, please let us know if this still happens in the final release.
Best regards,
David
