Potential Fix for Todoist Location Reminders

PW

I believe I have figured out why some users are not getting location reminders. I was having the same issue and had location services "On" for Todoist under Privacy. However, I had Background App Refresh turned "Off" under General for Todoist. Once I turned this on, all reminders worked for both my iPad and my iPhone. Users will need to check both of these because if the background refresh is off they won't get reminders.

Also, I noted an issue with the date for the iPad and iPhone where the date is removed when you advance the screen for any reason, e.g., Projects, labels, etc., so when it returns to the original screen the date field is now blank whereas it used to retain this. Would you put through a fix for it?

Thanks!

For the date issue I have researched and noted that it appears the issue is different depending on where you create the task and which screens you advance to. For example, if you create a task in the Today view the issue is date reversion back to today's date, but if you create the task in Inbox the issue is that the date gets removed.

Also if you create a task directly in Projects then the date gets removed for some fields but not others (e.g., Reminders but not Labels) and then also it will randomly switch like if you put every day it will switch the date to tomorrow when it returns to the main entry screen from whichever advanced screen you were using.

Hi Patrick,

For the location reminders, we are aware of this setting and have asked users to check this, though thank you for letting us know. We do believe we have found the issues with location reminders and updates are on their way.

So for the date issue, on iOS if you add a task with a date within a project, you save this task? Then when you go back to it, its gone? Or you are still editing it, you go to another menu such as Reminders, and go back, then the date is gone?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

Great news for the location reminders and glad that you have solved it.

For the date issue, it is when I am creating the entry that this happens. It appears to be an issue when the screen advances in iOS that it doesn't consistently retain the date field. When you touch the Project, Label, etc. fields in the iPad and iPhone app it advances to a new screen which sits on top of the entry creation form.

When it returns to the main entry creation form then the date selected has been modified. I have been using a fix of just putting the date in last so that it doesn't get overwritten since I've completed all of the screen advance fields before this (e.g., Label, Project) but it isn't in the logical visual flow since I usually input this right after selecting the Project since I complete top to bottom. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for this information, I've been able to reproduce this issue and have passed it to our developers.
