problem with Outlook 2013 - 365 home premium and add-in

SM

My outlook 2013 was crashing and not able to load when I was syncing with my outlook.com e-mail address. (worked fine with aol address) After hours with Microsoft, they told me that their latest update caused a problem with subscribed calendars. They said that I could revert back to the previous update until there was a fix,(hopefully in July) but I already deleted the "corrupt" .ost file and started over. I asked if they were having any issues with the Todoist add-in because I disabled it but would like to add it in. They said they were not. I waited for a couple of weeks, then I added the Todoist add-in again. Of course before I did this I exported my calendar, just in case. Good thing because I received the same error code and my oulook was not able to open. I deleted my calendar on outlook.com. I removed the Todoist app, my outlook profile and all the .ost files. Then started over and it is fine again. I am sorry but I thought I had the error written down from a few weeks ago but I threw it away. I know I could recreate it since I recreated it on both of my computers. Have you heard this before and is there anything that you can do to make sure it is resolved? thanks.

Hi Sonja,

Can you please confirm again what the issue is?

a. Todoist add-in is causing Outlook 2013 to crash
b. Todoist add-in is slowing down Outlook 2013 when syncing tasks
c. Todoist calendar integration doesn't work
d. something else (please tell me what it is)

Or is it a combination of those options? I need to know exactly the type of problem we're running into so I can bring this up with our developers. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Clyde

Hi Clyde,

Yes.. it is a. when I add-in the Todoist add-in then my outlook 2013 will crash after it sync’s with outlook.com. If I just have my aol e-mail in outlook 2013; it does not crash. It has something to do with the syncing with outlook.com.

I had a subscription to my son’s little league and soccer calendar. Outlook.com would allow “corrupt” calendar entries (or non-compatible? – not sure how to explain) but when the outlook.com calendar would sync with my outlook 2013 desktop it would crash my outlook and make my .ost file “corrupt”. It said there was a problem will file: pstprx32.dll …sorry I don’t have the entire error written down. Microsoft tech support did call me back and say that apparently the latest software updated caused this issue and they would have a fix in July. I could revert back to the old version if I wanted. (I should have done this but didn’t) However when I asked about the Todoist add-in he said he did not hear of any issues. I went a few weeks without adding the Todoist add-in back in, but I really like using it so I tried adding back in. After outlook 2013 synced with outlook.com twice, it crashed and I got the same exact error that I was getting with the subscripted calendars. It would not open and I had to start over with my outlook set up and delete my outlook.com calendar. I don’t really understand why the todoist add-in affects the calendar other than I used some e-mails to create tasks..not sure.

Maybe the fix in July will fix this issue also but I am not sure. I didn’t know if other people are having this problem too.

Thanks,

Sonja

Hi Sonja,

We have not gotten this exact report yet from other users. Is it possible to wait for the fix that Microsoft is planning to release? If it doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know so I can bring it up with our developer.

Given that there's still a bug that Microsoft to fix, it is best to wait for it and work on it after the fact so we're sure that it's not the bug that's causing the issue.

Regards,

Clyde

Thanks. I think they are having issues with the add-ins in general as they disabled my father-in-laws McAfee add-in because it was not working correctly.
