New Version - Notification on deadline

Since the recent update to notifications on MacOS, I cannot set an alarm on the exact deadline e.g. "0 min before" like I could before. I can only set a specific date and time or location?

Hello,

This option is still available and, just like before, it only works on tasks that already have a due date and time.

So a task due "today" will not allow you to set a reminder for X minute/hours before deadline as it needs a time-based deadline. But if the task is due "today at 16:30", then you'll see a reminder option "Before task" allowing you to select the delay.

If that doesn't apply and logging out and back in doesn't help, please let me know what's the exact date and time of the task and at what point are you trying to add the reminder - while adding the task, editing it and if it's within a project or through the "Quick Add" menu.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Please see the attached screenshot.

- Due date and time: 18 jul 14:00
- It defaults to 30 min before (which ill delete)
- I want to add a 0 min before (which I can't)

If I write "0 min før" (danish) or "0 min before" (english) it says invalid date?

...and I have no reminder option saying "Before task".

I can't reproduce this. Please refer to my screenshot. When you click on the gray clock icon in the reminder menu, do you not see "Before task" as one of the 3 options between "On a date" and "Location"?

Please try to log out and back in and see if it helps.

Best regards,
David

Found the bug:

- 18 jul @ 14:00 (works)

- 18 jul 14:00 (does not work anymore)
- 18 jul kl 14:00 (does not work anymore)

Before the update it worked without "@" as well which made good sense.

Thank you for this information, it seems to mostly affect non-English versions so we'll look into it. I've passed it to our developers now.

Hi,

I noticed that this issue has been fixed on the iphone and ipad but the Mac OSX desktop app needs a fix too?

Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately, this issue has not been addressed on the web yet (and therefore all other web-based apps and plugins), but our developers are looking into it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Just tested the MacOS App and on the web version on todoist.com, it's still not working?

Citona,

I'd suggest logging out and clearing the cache for Safari (our app uses this) and let us know if it still does not work.

Regards,
Brendon.

I cleared all cache in all browsers and even reinstalled todoist, but that didn't fix it.

- 18 jul 14:00 (does not work)
- 18 jul kl 14:00 (does not work)

Does not work means I still can't set "before alerts" using those lines.

Hi,

Any updates on this? It was fixed on iOS but not the Mac OSX version of Todoist which I'm using the most.

Did you guys even test the app yourselves to see if it was actually fixed? I still can't get it to work!

I updated the app, re-launched it, tried clearing my cache in safari, uninstalled and re-installed the app, but still:

- 18 jul 14:00 (does not work)
- 18 jul kl 14:00 (does not work)

Citona,

Since David posted that there have been a few changes. Can you tell me if you un-install it, clear cache for Safari, re-download from the main website (todoist.com/mac) and install, does it still happen?

Brendon

Hi,

Yesterday I tried downloading the app from todoist.com/mac instead of using the App Store version but that didn't solve it.

I tried uninstall/reinstall, clearing cache in Safari but didn't fix it either.

Citona,

I can't reproduce this issue. I've deleted the old version of the app, went to https://todoist.com/mac today (22 Aug), opened it, set it to Danish and added a task with a date due "28 aug kl 18:00", a reminder to and existing task with the same date, used Quick Add and added a reminder while adding a new tasks (again with the same date) and it always worked.

David

Hi David,

I just tried that again with a fresh install from https://todoist.com/mac, after clearing my cache in safari but I don't get the "Before task" notification option in the drop-down menu. I can only select "Date and time" and "Location" option.

Again, it works in the mobile apps (iphone, ipad ect.) just not MacOS.

Citona,

Indeed, my bad, I didn't test it while adding the task before saving it and indeed it still doesn't work in this situation. I'll pass it to our developers. Sorry for the inconvenience.

For now, as a workaround, you can save the task first, right-click on it and then go the Reminders menu in which case it should work.

David

Hi, I am also having the same problem.

I have a similar problem as well (in the German version). I don't have the possibility of setting the timer at exactly the same time like the event. It is simply missing on Todoist for Mac (see screenshot). The only workaround for me right now is using the iPad.
I would also be happy to use the English version if it works there...

I switched to English and here it is (see screenshot) - so perhaps you have to work a bit on your localized versions. For the time being I will keep on using the English version.
